How do you feel about communism?

So far, Marxism has never worked in real life — and, without exception, in the places where Marxism has been the governmental model, Christians have been persecuted. That’s because there’s a foundational difference between Marxism and Christianity, a deep divide that cannot be bridged. There are several aspects of Marxism, as a philosophy, that put it at odds with the Christian faith. Here are a few:

Marxism is, at heart, an atheistic philosophy with no room for belief in God. Karl Marx himself was clear on this point: “The first requisite of the happiness of the people is the abolition of religion” (“A Criticism of the Hegelian Philosophy of Right,” 1844). Christianity, of course, is rooted in theism and is all about God. In the Marxist model, the state becomes the provider, sustainer, protector, and lawgiver for every citizen; in short, the state is viewed as God. Christians always appeal to the God of the universe, and Marxist governments don’t like the idea of there being any authority higher than themselves.

One of the basic tenets of Marxism is that the idea of private property must be abolished. Where Marxism has taken root, land owners see their property confiscated by the state, and private ownership of just about anything is outlawed. In abolishing private property, Marxism directly contradicts several biblical principles. The Bible assumes the existence of private property and issues commands to respect it: injunctions such as “You shall not steal” (Deuteronomy 5:19) are meaningless without private property. The Bible honors work and teaches that individuals are responsible to support themselves: “The one who is unwilling to work shall not eat” (2 Thessalonians 3:10). The redistribution of wealth mandated by Marxism destroys accountability and the biblicalwork ethic. Jesus’ parable inMatthew 25:14–30clearly teaches our responsibility to serve God with our personal resources.
A good idea in principle, but one that’s been executed disastrously. History has shown that it just doesn’t work.
Graylight · 51-55, F
@PerchingDove It's shown that with just about every theory.
FreestyleArt · 31-35, M
More rules for thee and not for me. Also there is consequences when the Communist Government haves no boundaries for any political positions. Stalin was appointed as Secretary to give more Jobs to any political figures to strengthen his reputation to become the next worse Dictator than Lenin.
uncleshawn · 41-45, M
I doubt that more than 2% of users can define 'communism' or 'socialism' or 'capitalism' or 'marxism' or 'fascism'.
SW-User
@uncleshawn don't be ridiculous. Those are obviously just catch-all words for whatever I don't like
uncleshawn · 41-45, M
@SW-User 👍 I like it when truth and humor mix.
Dolimyte · 41-45, M
It's the best thing ever, until you add people. That's a good way to fuck up most things though.
But you get free beets. @Dolimyte
Burnley123 · 41-45, M
Is communism in the room right now Karen?
@Burnley123 No. it’s during mass. They give you a waifer thing and a sip of wine.
DunningKruger · 61-69, M
Communism would require a significant portion of the population to act selflessly for the good of the community, and I don't ever see humans doing that.
FCNantes · 22-25, M
@Elevatorpitches I'm not sure that he's advocating for those things...
@FCNantes I'm not sure any of us know what in hell we are alive for, it comes out of everyone.

The escapism in the wake of it is so.....boring though.

Pontless and boring

ok hurt me now.
FCNantes · 22-25, M
@Elevatorpitches "it comes out of everyone.

Idk wym by this. However, you sound like someone I could have an interesting conversation with.

I am all for it. And I take pride in the fact that I live in the same neighborhood as the first communist elected in North America. He was also immediately jailed by the Canadian government so he could not serve his term. So much for "democracy."
ScrewThisImDone · 26-30, F
All you need to do is look at communist countries like Cuba, the Soviet Union and North Korea. It's a disgusting system that exploits and abuses most of the population in order to benefit the few lucky enough to be at the top.
Let’s see…China? Ewww. North Korea? Terrifying. Cuba? Decaying. The USSR? Out of business. Hard pass.
Let’s see it’s run by the Chinese Communist Party also know as the CCP. According to World Atlas there are now just 5 communist countries left in the world: China, North Korea, Cuba, Vietnam, and Laos with China holding the largest Communist party in the world. I’d say that yes, they are still very much Communist. @FCNantes
FCNantes · 22-25, M
@stratosranger This's why I say not really:

And I’ll stick with World Atlas. They’re Commies. Nighty nite. @FCNantes
Sroonaka616 · 31-35, M
Definitely prefer the freedom of capitalism. I just suck at capitalism but I am looking forward to owning my own house.
@Sroonaka616 and being victimized by mass pandemics and mass starvation?

Oh wait...oh forget it.
Zaphod42 · 46-50, M
On paper it looks great! In practice it only seems to work for as long as the regime can afford the ammunition to enforce it.
@Zaphod42 So it’s like capitalism.
Stopmakingsense · 56-60, F
Obviously mankind is a social and communal animal. The collective will have to do something, on behalf of somebody, using some form of organization. Why not the best? People seem designed for democracy and for doing it as a community. Communism fits like a glove
FCNantes · 22-25, M
@Stopmakingsense "Self interest can easily be extended to all living things.
Self interest can be anything."

Wdym by this?
Stopmakingsense · 56-60, F
@FCNantes my self might be defined by its relationship to or participation in a country, a region, Mother Nature, my tribe or my family.
As a compassionate child of Nature, I have every reason to rebel against capitalism. As a Western European, I have a big huge responsibility to have lots of questions about the way we got here!
As a caretaker for cats I have to question everything.

Assuming all the selves are working for consumer goods or money doesn't seem like a safe bet. They're people, too. They know this can't be right.
FCNantes · 22-25, M
@Stopmakingsense I think people tend to do what suits them or those they care about.

Look at shopping habits. How many of those who are well-moneyed make the effort to buy ethically?

How many are going to vote for what they think's best for the collective?
Every see ppl from a capitalist country.. construct a makeshift raft of rubbish and float to a communist country?
It’s okay, but that wouldn’t be the reason I’d go to church. I sort of hate lines.

@MougyWolf Exactly what I had in mind…

That shit is dope.
@SW-User neat idea, that just ends up being kinda garbage in practice. In small settings, it works. Like a commune or social group. In large settings, greed runs eternal and in absence of a neutral, uninterested third party to keep things equal, it just sort of falls apart.
All Arab countries are secretly communist. Bye 👋
@hotarabgirl Not in the way they get into our business. Seriously I need a security permit to visit Turkey just because there's political troubles between them and my country and banks and customs everything you do they interfere with it.
@TheKingOfTheWorld Jk I don't want to talk about politics 🤫

Any system of government works. It ultimately depends on the hearts of the people being governed.
@Madmonk You mean any system has the potential to work, right ? It’s provable that not every system has worked, because of that very human element working against it.
Madmonk · M
Tracos · 51-55, M
conceptually nothing wrong with it... if it werent for greedy bullies abusing the system for their own power
@Tracos that happens in every way in every system in every economy and political scheme

but the question was asked because SOCIALISM is a GOOD idea and it was subverted by what happened in the SU.

But if we can back up and study the ideas and take a close look at socialism..

the reason people SNEER at this GOOD idea is that it might bring people together or ENCOURAGE people to love one another MORE and get some empowerment from the BOTTOM up and fight against some of the hideous abuses born of NO POWER AMONG REGULAR PEOPLE.

Things like deadly pandemics, planned mass starvations and the like

oh wait..its not a serious site. We should play with our food and hide under our cats.
FCNantes · 22-25, M
I think extreme communism's stupid. I'm not well-informed enough about softer communisms to feel 1 way or the other.
MougyWolf · 36-40, M
The road to hell is often paved with good intentions.
FCNantes · 22-25, M
@MougyWolf This current 1, not so much.

Does it come with fries?
Adaydreambeliever · 56-60, F
@TheKingOfTheWorld lol I can see you are taking this seriously.. you shouldn't!! I hope you aren't one of 'them' - people who are paranoid for no reason when it's about as likely as getting slapped with a wet hedgehog... And what's more, factually it doesn't necessarily associate with starvation - I am not fond of communism, but you could probably do with doing bit more research.
@TheKingOfTheWorld
No, it comes with starvation.
Plenty of starvation exists in capitalist countries, too.
SW-User
@bijouxbroussard The CIA determined that citizens of the USSR ate too much.
cant wait for my stint in the breadlines and gulag comrades..
I've no feelings left for it.

Utopian in theory. Unworkable in reality.

Utterly indifferent. Ask me again if there's ever any reason to believe that Communism's influence is increasing by the smallest amount. I might give you a very different answer and it would probably look something like 😱
