Shouldn't most production be localized to limit the carbon footprint of shipping and trucking?

Why are corporations allowed to hide the supply chains and spread them out so far?

The pandemic proved just how much of a failure global supply chains and just in time production was. When your entire economic system requires nothing to go wrong there is a serious issue because reality doesn't work that way and it is a ticking time bomb. Also globalization has been used as a great way to hide exploitation. Don't like child labour? That's okay we will just offshore it so you don't have to see it. Don't like slavery? That's fine, we will hide it within the walls of private prisons.

@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow Turning a blind eye to this is a sad commentary on our society.
