When the whole country gets free, high speed internet, Will we get net neutrality and the right to encrypted communication with that?

Should people be permitted to have truly private conversation over the internet? Doesn't the high tech-ness simply upstage my right to privacy? Or was that National Security?

Well im a "conspiracy theorist" and thats what dont make sense the gov wants to keep us under mind control keeping us staring at our phone screens yet they wont make internet free (unless you go in places that have free wifi) but you would think they would have it free for everyone anywhere you go somehow LOL

@sunsporter1649 i didnt say MUST HAVE go back and read the msgs.. I was stating a fact if the gov wants to keep us brainwashed by our phones they should provide free internet NOT make us pay for our own demise... Now jabe a goodnight im done..

@BrandonAngel2023 The government owns the internet providers?

Pretty sure the current plan bringing affordable broadband options to people that currently don't have them, rather than free internet for the whole country. In the process, a "public option" will emerge to help keep Comcast, etc from price-gouging.

As for net neutrality, something of a separate topic - there is some pressure on democrats to revive it.

Who pay's for this "free" "high-speed" internet?

@LordShadowfire You mean all those towers spring up all on their own, and are maintained and repaired all by themselves?
I think that's enough SW for a night. It's just trolls all the way down.

@sunsporter1649 you alone will pay for it

You're mixing stuff up.

You can have encrypted conversations today. WhatsApp, and most similar applications support end-to-end encryption.

@LvChris If the Obama, now Biden plan is implemented, we may soon be rid of the duopoly (cable/phone) companies.

That's what they say we need to get rid of having to pay for a licence to watch the TV.
Net neutrality is absolutely vital. So is privacy. (Not to be confused with the terms of use on certain websites...)

@sunsporter1649
You don't like your isp, there are dozens of others out there
In practice, usually not - as always, you're bloody clueless.

@LordShadowfire I would just switch isp's if they shut off my watching of hockey games. Simple
