Is it surprising that so many Americans are still waiting until it's available locally to get their shots?

Not really. Most places in the US are so remote that they haven't even heard the civil war ended.

No, it isn't surprising. There are people who don't have access to transportation and they cannot go to the city and get it. There are disabled people as well. In my opinion, there is nothing wrong with waiting for it to reach your local area. Everyone has their own reasons for things.

Not really. There really aren’t that many heavily populated areas for how much space we have in the US. Where I grew up our nearest neighbor was a mile down a dirt road. Places like that don’t have hospitals with freezers capable of the low temperatures needed to keep the vaccine in, and with all the questions raised about the J&J shot right now it might be months before they even have access to that one.

I don't drive. I don't know anywhere nearby to get it.
Since there are only a couple dozen actual cities in the US, many would have to drive hours and hours to reach one of them

Yes, it's surprising, because that's not the case.

@Northwest the surgeon general said we need trusted local voices and sources.

Huh? How's this relevant to what you said?

Americans are being vaccinated at record levels from what I've read.

Seems like most folks would have local availability by now.
