@thedarkside 6,326 COVID-positive residents were admitted to nursing care facilities after the covid risk was known. This is complicated, because there are specific mandates and laws in place that dictate things like this. On March 25, the state's Health Department issued an advisory requiring nursing homes to accept [i]"the expedited receipt of residents returning from hospitals" if the patients were deemed medically stable.[/i] That accounts for the readmissions, which was a mandate.

Also mandated: "No resident shall be denied re-admission or admission to the [nursing home] solely based on a confirmed or suspected diagnosis of COVID-19," the advisory stated. "[Nursing homes] are prohibited from requiring a hospitalized resident who is determined medically stable to be tested for COVID-19 prior to admission or readmission."

This is terrible policy but covid came rather like a wave. no one was really ready for it. This issue is hardly only Cuomo's. by the way. I just left my job due to dangerous mandates and provisions left in place, and that's after a year of trying to change things from within. I will not second-guess a guy in charge of millions of people, hundreds of departments, all the money, all the resources. Early in a pandemic, no one's choices were expected to be 100%. And let's keep in mind - Cuomo still denies some of the allegations and no assessment's been made yet on whether his decisions costs lives and how many were involved.

And yes, I lost an aunt in a NJ nursing home after special provisions were never put in place.

Assuming that you are right about all this, then why is Cuomo being investigated?

@thedarkside I'm not saying he did nothing wrong (and thank you for your condolences) or that he's not the shining knight the rest of America thinks he is. I honestly do believe much of this push is Republican driven, particularly conservative-driven. Cuomo made Trump and his camp furious and the whole group gains life-strength through vindictive pettiness.

That aside, he may be in the wrong here. Still, there's not even a known tool and it would never be the numbers I hear people screaming about. Find me one single person who acted flawlessly in this pandemic - a ounce in a lifetime crisis - and I'll show you someone who isn't human.

The fact is, this is much more complicated than the average internet user thinks it is and involves mandates, policies, states' provisions, contracts, HIPAA, medical ethics and much more. Let's at least reach a logical conclusion before lynching people. The investigation I'm not averse to - it's the execution without trial I don't like.

@Carla I believe the two met last week. Perhaps that’s where the issue was discussed.
