This Video Shows the Difference Between Trumpets and the Rest of the Country.

Trump's tactics worked beautifully against Ted Cruz and Jeb Bush in 2016. But he crashed and burned when doing it against Joe Biden in the first presidential debate this year.

Why? Because while Trumpets made up a plurality of the Republican electorate in the crowded 2016 GOP primary field, they make up a minority of the electorate as a whole. Remember, it's not just Democrats who got turned off by Trump's antics of the past four years. Independents, who generally can't vote in Republican primaries, didn't like them either.

I'm still of the opinion that if the GOP field in 2016 wasn't so large, Jeb Bush might have quickly become the alternative to Donald Trump and defeated him. One-on-one. Like Biden did.

Just look at how Trumpets argue politics here on SW. Calling those that disagree with them stupid, idiots, liars, etc. There's no daylight between them and their idol.

So if people think that someone else will emerge as the GOP Trump alternative for 2024, they are deluding themselves. The only way the Republicans stop Trump from winning the nomination in 2024 is if THEY destroy him. Not the Biden administration. Not the Southern District Court of New York. But Republicans.

THEY need to demand Trump's tax returns.

THEY need to reevaluate the Mueller report.

THEY need to push prosecution of the Emoluments clause.

THEY need to trash Trump for the wave of pardons that will soon happen.

THEY need to educate their base on how bad Trumpism has been and will continue to be for the country.

If they don't, Trump will hang like an anchor about their necks, ready to sink them with him in the 2022 mid-terms and the 2024 general election.

I'm not sure about the Jeb Bush part. The man ran a uniquely awful campaign.

If indpedendents were allowed too vote in a Republican Primary, who knows what would have happened. I reckon Rubio would have won, which is bad enough.

Not gonna happen. If anything, Trump increased his hold on the Republican base during his Presidency. The only things stopping him from running next time will be ill-healthy, his own decision or jail.
