@BobGrant45 that was the point. Do you need more than $999,000,000? Let someone else earn that for a few years. If building businesses is so important, I bet hundreds of millions of dollars is a good starting point for a new one. They could also put most back into the current business, or the best option would be to pass it along to all the hardworking employees, so they can stimulate the economy by spending it.

@BobGrant45 who is suggesting shutting anything down? If a CEO maxes out his earning potential and wants to leave a cushy position that has power and influence among innumerable other perks, that doesn't make the company collapse. They just elect, appoint or hire a new CEO. Corporations are not people.

I don’t see a need for these sorts of policies. The profit motive is a good engine. Provided those on the upper scales are taxed appropriately to the disproportionate benefit they extract from the system’s existence, I’d rather every dollar they make, make them richer. It’s amazing that our system allows someone to make themselves into a billionaire, that’s a strength, not a weakness. What sucks is that life is so tough for so many on the bottom - but there isn’t a direct relationship between these things.
I think you'll find those who are worth more that a billion don't usually have excess money. They just have assets worth the sum of billions. In fact there is only approx $5T in circulation and $75T total in the world. But the millionaires and billionaires collectively have a net worth of approx $165T. That's because their net worth comes from things other than money.

@Qwerty14 what? How do you propose getting money they are hiding so well?
@Dolimyte You slap the tariffs on everything the rich invest the money in. Stocks, banks, properties, companies. Anything that they put the money into that the 90% often don't, or can't, invest in.

@Qwerty14 they'll just use shell companies in Panama to do it.

Cool idea, doesn't work. They will put the excess money into a fake accounts, invest it in themselves or just convert it to stocks since you can't buy anything with stocks, the money would be safe.
