Is Baby-trump trying to diminish the role of the USA in the world? Is this why "the anti-American & obedient base" loves him with such fervour?

Yes his fans are not the brightest... they seem not to have worked out that if you piss off the rest of the world, if you withdraw from international bodies, then you cannot expect still to have influence and respect.. They seem unable to work out that if you lose respect and influence on the world stage then this will have an impact.. and it will have financial repercussions too in terms of trade - you can't go around calling everyone else shithole countries and pissing off your closest allies and still expect them to want to trade with you.. and America DOES need to export their goods... So it's cutting off their nose to spite their face.

That last part seems pretty good, but I think a lot of Trumpists buy his transactional world view where respect for others and a common human purpose of longtime survival and prosperity is for suckers.

They're looking to get theirs before the other guy takes it from him no matter how much he has to lie to do it, and he is does seem like a pretty good role model for that.
