When old people are nearing their lives and politicians and media tell them everyday that they could die any minute...last comfort they need I imagine

No. We are doing fine worshiping online and in small groups via Zoom. It will be good to get back together when it is safe to do so.

To some people they are....but to most, their faith doesn’t depend on gathering in a group at a building.
Having houses of worship be allowed to open is something which should be done.....but only when practical.
Nursing homes are essential, but they won’t be opened to the general public right away....for good reason.
Social distancing is difficult to maintain at a house of worship, as it is at a nursing home....proper precautions should be in effect to insure that opening them isn’t going to do more harm than good.

NO. Firstly: Worship means to obey utterly, which should be done at all times, anywhere. They ought to be referred to as "places of praise" instead.
secondly, any spirituality (or its anti-thesis) is a profoundly private thing and should be kept within the house-hold, if not kept as a personal and unspoken secret.

I've never thought so, as far as having to be there in one to feel the presence of a "higher being". That would be especially true, during a time when a contagious virus is still making people quite ill..and often leading to their deaths.

They're about as essential as any other type of social gatherings. But, if the flock don't show up, they're less likely to fork out some dough, and subsequently, the higher ups will have less $s for the lobbyists, to buy politicians, who will then deem them essential.
