Prudent remarks on Castro by Sanders?

Bernie Sanders seems to have a particular connection/interest for political gain IMO, to the Castro's particularly, the late Fidel, and he has made comments of late regarding the one time dictator. Do you think he is prudent in bringing this individual and his regime up?

First, the remarks you refer to were made 35 years ago. And Anderson Cooper brought them up, not Sanders. Just to be clear.

Here was his response:
“When Fidel Castro came into office, you know what he did? He had a massive literacy program,” Sanders said. “Is that a bad thing, even though Fidel Castro did it?”

Cooper noted that Castro’s administration imprisoned dissidents.

“That’s right, and we condemn that,” Sanders said. “Unlike Donald Trump ― let’s be clear ― I do not think that [North Korean leader] Kim Jong Un is a good friend. I don’t trade love letters with a murdering dictator. [Russian President] Vladimir Putin: not a great friend of mine.”
Sanders told Cooper that he’s “very opposed to the authoritarian nature of Cuba,” but said it’s “unfair to simply say everything is bad.”
Cuba does have a better educational system. It has a better healthcare system. It's also communist. Sanders never implied the Cuban revolution was a great thing - he said nothing is all bad.
@Graylight Well, Bernie has had an effect on the media, and it may well cost Chris Matthews dearly. https://www.newsmax.com/newsfront/msnbc-chrismatthews-berniesanders-nazi/2020/02/23/id/955331/

@soar2newhighs Indeed. Unrelated story, but he's clearly leading the media around by the nose.

Burgers have made themselves retarded on this topic.

Bolsheviks brought the written word and the electric lightbulb to the farthest corner of the Russian empire - as a result my grandfather went from a dirt floor to a particle accelerator.

Is that bad simply because the Soviets did it? No. Was that a hugely positive development for the average person? Yes. Does that mean everything the Soviets did was great? No.

He said Cuba's education system is great. Which it is, it is one of the best in the world. If you look around, you will also find videos of Obama saying the exact SAME thing. Lots of countries look up to the Cuban system. Matter of fact, i had a Cuban classmate which can tell you all about it.
@SW-User Here's what appears to be a two sided coin on the Cuban education system. https://welcometocuba.weebly.com/educational-system.html

Does Senile Sanders realize Castro is dead ?
@MarmeeMarch Whether as one responder to my question said, this was 35 years ago. OK, but
it might sot bode well for him in the Cuban-American communities. Just saying.
