I don't wish poor health on anyone. This is the same man who preached that Obama wasn't born in the USA, went deaf from using opioids, smoked and I won't mention the other bad things he sad and did during his career. He helped divide the country, did not help to heal the country's wounds. What did he do to deserve the award?

There is only one darn good reason he got the award...he is a huge supporter of Trump and has a big mouth on a major radio station that fans the flames of his moronic audience. Trump is no dummy when it comes to playing to win.
What a damn shame he couldn't find a man or woman of great personal character and integrity to give that medal to.

I watched the whole thing tonight. He looked very surprised. I have, unbelievably, never listened to his show. I entered adulthood in liberal Massachusetts, and I remember hearing Howard Stern trash him, while I listened to the radio on my way to work...so I said to myself...hmm...sounds bad.
More recently I have heard snippets of his shows on the news, and when I learned that he had stage 4 lung cancer, I felt for him. I have a friend with stage 3B lung cancer, and he is going through hell. And please believe me...I wouldn't even wish that kind of hell on Adam Schitt who really deserves a rather hefty kick in the rear with a 200 pound boot.
At any rate, the President said that Rush Limbaugh did an incredible amount of charity work, and helped a LOT of people, and provided them with inspiration, and that was the reason for awarding the Presidential Medal of Freedom.
I am glad. I know that Rush Limbaugh is a controversial figure, but when you know you probably have a very slim chance to live, and you know even that might not be for long, it is wonderful to have a lifetime of work so publicly appreciated. I wish I could do something similar for my friend.
