SF’s appalling street life repels residents — now it’s driven away a convention

San Francisco loses major convention, Oracle's OpenWorld, to Las Vegas, citing the unsafe conditions, a loss of an estimated $40 Million. Ya think miss Nancy even cares?

It's more important for her to try to get rid of Trump. Of course, she knows she'll never be voted out so what's the incentive to, you know, actually help her district?
The most recent data from the National Travel and Tourism Office shows inbound visitors to the U.S. dropped to 41 million in 2017, a 4 percent decrease from 2016, and travel spending dipped around 3 percent. NBC News reports that decline has cost the nation about $4.6 billion in lost spending and 40,000 jobs.
Ya think The Donald even cares?

@windinhishair Got your poopie map? Nobody would want to visit a dump like San Fran

Not entirely true, is it? The motivating factor was price. For less money, the convention gets a brand new, state-of-the-art convention facility located in the number one convention destination in the country. Street conditions where a secondary consideration and applied only to the area around the hotel in which the convention was to be held. Good try.

@Graylight Still printing your poopie maps?

@sunsporter1649 Yes, take a money-making venture about a temporary societal issue and pretend as though one city has been defined by it for all of existence. First, understand what you're talking about, because you sound ignorant as always. Secondly, you don't have to argue this point. We're not selling SF to you. We don't care if you ever see it. We don't want you there. You are the kind of blight that make the city burn just a little less light. Stay away.

@Graylight I first visited San Fran in 1969, and when I was flying dropped in many times. Between young ladies being gunned down on the streets by illegal aliens and piles of manure and needles in the streets I can assure you I have no interest in revisiting, just feel sorry for the people there and what a dump the city has become
Congress has very little responsibility for that - it’s more for city government to handle.

@LeopoldBloom LOL, of course the peoples representative to the United States is of course not responsible to their electors

Are you kidding me?? You are saying they don't want to have to slop through human excrement risking disease etc.?? Who would have thought! As for Nancy she is too busy jetting around the world pretending to be president. She was with the lovely Greta saying "We're in". Guess Trump backing out of the Paris Accord is nothing to her.

I live in the San Francisco area. The homeless, crime and street drug scene is indeed appalling. It got much worse when the tech industry moved in and took over the city a few years ago. Housing costs skyrocketed, so now a small one-bedroom apartment rents for about $2,800/mo.

Since the tech invasion, the city has become severely over-crowded, all day traffic congestion and no parking, city services are strained to the limit.

I hope the next big earthquake chases out the tech industry. I believe street drug users should be sent to mandatory re-hab. The mental cases should be sent to hospitals, involuntary commitment.
