Why is the US training Saudis how to bomb schools and hospitals ?

windinhishair · 61-69, M
Because Trump has business interests in Saudi Arabia, and his needs clearly outweigh those of the nation.

We do this for all nations that buy airplanes. Planes do not kill people, oppressive dictators kill people, and if their money is good, we will take it.

The US government doesn't give a damn about what's right.

With friends like the Saudis, who needs enemies?

This sort of thing falls under purchasing agreements when you buy US weaponry. So - because they pay for it. And we sell them advanced weaponry despite their questionable record because they're one of our most important client states in the middle east, and one that doesn't strictly need us so we have to fondle their balls a bit more.

This is standard geopolitics tbh 🤷‍♂️

@QuixoticSoul The Saudi-led coalition is responsible for 4,800 of about 7,000 civilian deaths caused by direct military targeting in the war since 2016, according to the Armed Conflict Location & Event Data Project, which monitors the toll.

And US military advisers have been posted to the coalition air command center in Riyadh since at least 2016. Yet civilian deaths continue.

So why , in light of these figures , is the US still training Saudi air force officers to commit what amounts to genocide (even after Congress withdrew US support for the war)?

@RodionRomanovitch Geopolitics. This is how the game is played. If not us, the Russians will be happy to do it.

Some of that is also the simple reality of bombing shit.
Hey, we’re tough on fighting terrorists...
Unless they’re white
Or from a country with whom Trump does business
Or they want to buy guns here, because, 2nd Amendment, and money.

@bijouxbroussard My 'real' question was ; Why is Trump so obsequious and servile to Saudi Arabia ?

And the 'real' answer actually has nothing to do with US interests (shock , horror !)

Those fuckers are keeping his (and Kushner's) business afloat , and have been for years.
@RodionRomanovitch Absolutely. The reason Trump
reneged on revealing his tax returns, just like he refused to divest from his businesses when elected was because they are more of his concern than the US ever will be. He became president to line his own pockets. And his grand gesture of not accepting a salary means nothing when he regularly steers foreign visitors; diplomats and heads of state to his properties and makes money off of them via his family members.

IF that's the case, I imagine it's dawning on the kingdom that sooner or later the U.S is going to withdraw their presence in the region.
Which means there'll be no more protection from the U.S.
Which means they'll have to fend for themselves.

Since Obama is out of office the CIA has to.
QuixoticSoul · 41-45, M
@MrBrownstone The CIA?
JoeyFoxx · 51-55, M
Because that’s what’s happening.
