Alternatives to Trump

This is for all the anti Trump people on here - rather than just moaning about how bad Trump is in your humble opinion. Who would you vote for instead and why? Eg E Warren for tax policies, Chang for economic reasons etc etc - so rather than just moaning you’re actually suggesting an alternative!
CountScrofula · 41-45, M
See here's the thing. I could talk about how Sanders is as close to my politics as you can get in a Presidential candidate, but that's kind of not the point.

Trump isn't a normal politician I happen to disagree with. He's a demented old man who is losing his mind. Like the dude is clearly and obviously insane and incapable of rational behaviour.

And that's ignoring his incredible, extensive criminal activity. He's a career con artist.
wildbill83 · 36-40, M
@CountScrofula
Sanders is as close to my politics as you can get
The irony; a marxist that thinks Trump is demented...🤔
CountScrofula · 41-45, M
@wildbill83 Pretend he's not a politician but instead your uncle. Wouldn't you be worried?

Even just the sharpie thing. Editing a map with a sharpie. Obviously. Then trying to pass it off as fact on national television.

Would you do that? Would a 15 year old do that? Maybe an eight year old.

That's one example of a million, but an easy one. That's not healthy human behaviour. The dude is not well.
windinhishair · 61-69, M
I could vote for any of the Democratic candidates, and some of the former Republicans (e.g., Kasich) before the GOP became the Trump Party and abandoned their principles. Each would have different attributes, but all would be preferable to the mentally ill criminal in the White House at the moment.
BlueVeins · 22-25
You know @Chrisy1, I'm a neverTrumper and I really agree with you -- we need to take a bigger stand on what we're for than what we're against and I'm going to go with Bernie Sanders. Bernie Sanders is and has been for decades the politician for universal healthcare, for world peace, for taxing the wealthy, for a modern first-world minimum wage, and for clean, corporate money-free elections. Bernie is the most honestly candidate on either side, and he's the candidate who cares the most about the American people.
jackjjackson · 61-69, M
Reasonable point. Do you know anyone who has bought the book? I do not. @QuixoticSoul
BlueVeins · 22-25
@jackjjackson Have you really specifically asked everyone you know if they've bought Bernie's book? Do you expect Quixotic to have done that? I sure haven't asked anyone that question.
jackjjackson · 61-69, M
My friends and relatives share the books they have bought and no one has said anything where they did say about the Hillary book 😖 @BlueVeins
The bottom line for me is that I don’t want a racist and misogynist as my president. And I can honestly say that whichever Democrat wins the primary, he or she will have my vote in November.
monte3 · 70-79, M
The correct and best answer!
I disagree with Warren pretty much right down the line (and find her annoying) but still way better the T4ump@bijouxbroussard

It's still pretty early to make a choice. Where things stand, it might be Warren, and if so, I will vote for her. I don't believe her healthcare plan, can be fully implemented, but that's OK, as I think we will de one step closer to where we should be as a first world nation, in providing our citizens with better, affordable, healthcare.

As to her plan to control the tech monopolies, I think it's a good thing.
Allelse · 36-40, M
A piece of plywood would be a good alternative at this point, though I'd miss all the headlines. One thing you mad Americans are good at it is voting complete lunatics into office and I'm not just talking about the presidential one either. Though if you ran the piece of plywood as a Democrat you'd have the Republicans squawking that it was the anti-Christ while shaking their fist that it wasn't doing enough it's power to keep the immigrants at bay or doing enough to stop the trade of illegal drugs. While the moment a gust of wind knocked the piece of wood over, the Republicans would rage and shake their fists saying that the piece of plywood was doing far too much, and before you know it, it would do away with the constitution all together and be about to make itself king of north America. Which just goes to show that you just can't win. While the current maniac has done everything from leave allies to die in the dust to trying to extort an entire other country into doing his dirty work for him. Bloody odd world, but then the Christians have always been a strange lot, they've always put their money on the wrong horse. I mean getting all excited about some fellow who got himself nailed to some wood, talk about being bad at picking a winning horse. Not that Christianity certainly hasn't done its own damage over the years, as Trump has.
Allelse · 36-40, M
@wildbill83 Australian prides itself on being environmentally friendly? Not in my experience. You should hear the fuss Australians make when a bush turkey digs up their backyard. A native bush turkey which was on the brink of extinction but which is back with a vengeance, but it digs up people's gardens!! Well they cant have that and so its DEATH to the bush turkey, and nobody bats an eyelid about it being a native animal. So dont worry any about of that nonsense. And our politicians? Well they're not much different than politicians anywhere else, except that they dont take any of it so seriously, but Americans do. They think it all matters when it really doesn't as change comes with time and time tends to keep to its own schedule. The very fact Americans have those ridiculous rallies, which are akin to a form of hero worship just goes to show; it's so pathetic. But!! Americans have always been a dramatic lot, a bit like the French. I mean look at the founding fathers with all their tripe about liberty, while keeping their slaves and doing what they could to kill or cage up the red man. As I said, change comes with time and time tends to keep to its own schedule. For example slavery would have ended anyway but NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!! The Americans had to have a war over it and kill a half million of their own people. Bunch of bloody drama queens. And then!! Have the nerve to try and say they were fighting for the liberty of their enslaved black brother!!! Something which most other civilized countries had grown out of and ended with an act of government.

@Allelse You arent in one of your better moods today, are you.. Not that you are wrong about any of it. But I sense a certain angst.😉
Allelse · 36-40, M
@whowasthatmaskedman Hahahahaha!!! I cant remember now. Actually I was in an alright mood, I'd had a shitty day but I also had Chinese food for dinner!! So I was feeling cheery enough :D
QuietChaos · 56-60, M
He never had much of a shot, but Inslee was my favorite. Of those left, whoever can convince me he/she is concerned about the climate crisis would get my vote. Bernie has come the closest. Nothing else matters.
SimplyTracie · 26-30, F
@QuietChaos Oh okay. That Bill guy blocked me so I couldn’t see his comments.
QuietChaos · 56-60, M
He’s the one who blocked me too. You block everyone whose politics don’t align with yours, you might as well babble about Democrats to yourself. @SimplyTracie
SimplyTracie · 26-30, F
@QuietChaos I agree with you
jackjjackson · 61-69, M
Smart young Americans would like a ticket of Yang and Gabbard in no particular order. Unfortunately these smart young America’s don’t get polled.
@jackjjackson Evan McMullin, or as we called him, Egg McMuffin. He didn’t even win Utah, despite being Mormon.
jackjjackson · 61-69, M
LOL. As recently as today Mrs Clinton is crowing that many many many people have been begging her to run. @LeopoldBloom
@jackjjackson Doesn’t mean she will.

She picked up “many people are saying” from Trump. It’s code for “I just pulled this out of my ass.”
SimplyTracie · 26-30, F
Who the heck is Chang?

Anyway, I’d vote for Tulsi
Chrisy1 · 18-21, F
And actually I clearly referred to your Chang comment - rather obviously.@SimplyTracie
SimplyTracie · 26-30, F
@Chrisy1 It was not so obvious to me. I must be stupid.
Chrisy1 · 18-21, F
Not to worry you’ll get over it@SimplyTracie

If my uncle decided he wanted to buy a country he'd be sedated
whowasthatmaskedman · 70-79, M
The biggest problem is that Trump is nowhere near the biggest problem. He is in fact merely a symptom of the frustration of the the people with a system that has been bought and corrupted by money from top to bottom.
This doesnt make Trump a good choice. Hes God awful. But the Titanic is sinking, no matter who you make the captain.
Oster1 · M
I honestly don’t think, anyone can beat him☺️
Zonuss · 41-45, M
Biden is just fine. The establishment has give us better times and its in the record books for those who don't know. But yes we can still have a great economy with establishment candidates. The South is proof of this. 🙂
whowasthatmaskedman · 70-79, M
@sunsporter1649 It doesnt really matter any more than for the nations pride..The nation is now a rusting hulk adrift in the world and waiting for the tides and storms to beach it unless it breaks up and sinks. The problem then becomes the worlds to clean up the oli slick.
sunsporter1649 · 70-79, M
@whowasthatmaskedman You better hurry up and leave before the sinking arrives
whowasthatmaskedman · 70-79, M
@sunsporter1649 I am safe.. In Tomorrowland
Sparklingwindd · 41-45, M
I would go with Berine but before even go there, what do we do with SCOMO?
whowasthatmaskedman · 70-79, M
@Sparklingwindd He seems to like Hawaii.
nedkelly · 61-69, M
Simple answer - NONE from the democrats
wildbill83 · 36-40, M
@nedkelly the democrat form of "progression" = movement in any direction is "progress", even if it's backwards...
wildbill83 · 36-40, M
Democrats on alternative to Trump...

"Hmmm... we don't like the common cold, so we'll try Ebola, Aids, or Lung Cancer instead..."
QuixoticSoul · 41-45, M
Chang? 🤔
Chrisy1 · 18-21, F
You seem to have a lot to say on his comments!? You a fan are you!? 🤓@jackjjackson
QuixoticSoul · 41-45, M
@Chrisy1 You have to admit that's a pretty funny mistake.

Yang's unelectable, and he'd never be able to put his scheme into practice, but of course he'd be an improvement.

Chrisy1 · 18-21, F
True - agreed!@QuixoticSoul

You like this don’t you - you live for the chance to argue 😎👍@SimplyTracie
SimplyTracie · 26-30, F
@Chrisy1 I don’t argue. I think arguments are counterproductive.
Chrisy1 · 18-21, F
You can come across as a little argumentative (just my opinion & im aware that I also do that), however given the initial posting on this particular discussion thread, I’d say that was more than ok. @SimplyTracie
