How can we stop being angry and learn to love Donald Trump ?

xixgun · M Best Comment
1) I'm not angry
2) I don't love Donald Trump, but I know for a fact he can do the job that he was hired for.

3) I don't WANT to love my President. The President of the United States is a temp position.
I want someone in there who remembers who their fucking boss is and what they're supposed to be doing there. I don't want to see them on late night talk shows (while they are still in office), because that isn't what they were hired for. I don't want to have a beer with them, catch a game with them, or have a gala at the White House with a bunch of suck ups. Because that isn't what they were hired to do.

The sooner people realize that it IS just a temp position, 8 years at most, maybe they can calm the fuck down.

@Nimbus Thank you (and thanks for BA!)

I think we could stop believing the obviously biased, progressive media. They and the democrats have some ax to grind and they are purposely pumping the public with endless lies for the specific purpose of making you angry.

Shame on them for trying.
Shame on you if your are being continuously sucked into their vortex of hate.

@Zonuss The statistic you're looking for is called Labor Force Participation Rate. It is indeed not where it used to be in the 90s, and has only started to climb a little, under prolonged (and probably unsustainable) labor market pressure.

Ironically, it's also why Trump used to huff about unemployment rate being meaningless, even if he happily takes credit for it now.
Zonuss · 41-45, M
@QuixoticSoul These Trumptards have amnesia. They want so desperately to believe that Trump is the Second Coming Of Christ. But they are about as clueless as a alligator

I believe, very honestly, that the issue of lost power has caused hysteria among the people whose money and personal power derived from that power in government.

The loss of money and personal power are great motivators for remaining angry. Basically, we know which players in Washington have lost power and money, (politicians and their lobby groups and supporters), but there are others who suck off that same power tit, and we mustn't forget the smaller fish and their motivations, which are the same.

Those include The New York Times, which has prostituted itself, CNN and MSNBC which are no longer good for anything but a laugh and whose ratings are plummeting, and the various groups like Anti-Fa and others like them, who are also becoming targets for humor. There is also an enormous group of government workers at the lower levels who derive power and satisfaction from "winning".

None of the people mentioned, above, are going to stop.

None of them can allow Donald Trump to continue.

None of them will ever love Donald Trump.

Recognizing this, and knowing they will still lose in 2020, we can only hope that these groups recognize that they only have to sit and wait four more years and Trump will go away.

Because there are things in train right now that will explode in their faces, and bring down their house.

@nonny YOU will TELL me what I KNOW?? You, who smugly assume you know the mind of each and every one of use when you do not? It is your mind which has become small.

I am done with you, and this is the second time I have said it. If you comment here again I will block you.
nonny · 56-60, M
Sigh. Have fun in your fantasy world. It seems to contain a whole lot of hate. Think of me in the fall when you see what comes about... Block me if you like, I’m done here too, won’t comment again.@4meAndyou
SumKindaMunster · 51-55, M
@nonny I think that's a laudable goal. But it is also naive to believe you are not biased, indoctrinated or just plain misinformed.

I've made this point to many of our Western allies and friends on this site.

You are only seeing and hearing what your liberal media wants you to see and hear. I've noted that other right wing administrations like Bolsonaro in Brazil, Duerte in the Philippines and Matteo Salvini in Italy get the same treatment from our liberal press. They are evil, destructive and corrupt according to our media. Meanwhile, France is in its 8th? month of protests but the liberal media says nothing about how poorly Macron must be running that country to have that happen. Look how careful the liberal media is to not offend the Chinese who are actively oppressing their citizens because of their own protesting.

I've noted in your own comments that you are indoctrinated by the liberal media about "pizzagate" a conspiracy that addresses a voluminous amount of very disturbing and questionable material found on John Podesta and some of his associates computers. Have you ever reviewed the material that informs the pizzagate conspiracy? I know the answer to that is no, as you are parroting a liberal media canard with this comment:
or the Democrats operating a child sex ring in the basement of a pizza parlour.
That's a very misinformed way of describing it, and it clearly shows your own indoctrination even though you claim you are fully neutral and not biased.

Look we all are. I am too. But I know that I am and I still try to keep an open mind when I read opposing viewpoints. But don't kid yourself that you are not.
SW-User
You’ve asked two questions in one.

Anger? That we can all control, because that’s a reaction. We all should have the ability to control ourselves and our reactions (even if he appears to lack that level of impulse control himself). I don’t feel anger towards him, because he is behaving exactly as I expect. There is no shock value to anything he does or says. The man is a fool, and if anything, he elicits mockery and laughter, not anger.

Love him? Not a chance. He’s a despicable human being bereft of dignity, integrity, empathy, and decency. He’s not worthy of my respect....let alone my love.
abe182 · 46-50, M
Start thinking for ourselves and not fall for the propaganda the media cranks out. Wake up and realize that they telling us how to think.
luckranger71 · 51-55, M
So if you’re getting your information from that media how is it that you’re still an independent thinker and support Trump? @abe182
abe182 · 46-50, M

badminton · 61-69, MVIP
A better question would be when will Trump show some love for us.

The Trump administration since day one has been rolling back every environmental law it can, and has blocked critically needed action on climate change, all to increase profits for oil companies and other corporations.

The Trump administration gave a huge, totally un-needed and ill-advised tax break to billionaires and corporations.

The list goes on. All the Trump administration's actions have been to harm everyone except the super wealthy and corporations.

So I'd say we all have good reason not to love "agent orange" Trump.
badminton · 61-69, MVIP

@badminton Two wrongs do not make a right.
@Nimbus Ahh. Thanks for reminding me why I thought that wasn't in everyone's interests.
badminton · 61-69, MVIP
I would be happy to see Trump on a reality TV show. Actually, I think Trump would be happier too. He really doesn't know how, or want to be, a public servant with responsibilities to the nation. In 2016 Jerry Springier said, "Donald Trump belongs on my show, not in the White House."

Let's all work to get Trump impeached, or forced to resign. Then he will go back where he belongs, as a reality TV show personality, which is his natural habitat.
windinhishair · 61-69, M
@softspokenman Yes, but would they really physically remove a defeated president who wasn't willing to leave? Someone who would call on his loyalists for second amendment support?
monte3 · 70-79, M
I think/hope that they would. Second Amendment support is something they only dream about. Imagine the 101st Airborne versus some rural clowns.@windinhishair
windinhishair · 61-69, M
@monte3 I would hope they would too, but I've seen things in the past two years I never thought I would see in the US, so I can't be certain or even probable.

The 101st Airborne would definitely have the upper hand. Let's hope Trump doesn't issue a call for violence.
There are a number of methods for those who dislike this lovely man. Amongst those are to ignore the childish ramblings of those who have never voted and know nothing of politics - these are merely the rants of those whose lives centre around their school playgrounds and whose lives are governed by sensible parents against whom they rebel.

Prevent non-registered and under-age voters from making silly and childish comments which they use to make themselves look and feel 'cool'. Chloroform works best.

Recognize the poor quality journalism that the hacks spew out in their meaningless daily rags and protest by burning their newspapers outside their Islam-influenced offices.

Gag and bind all the liberals worldwide and deport them to Greenland so that their tears may give moisture to the soil. True, the plants may grow deformed for some years but with a little tender care, insecticide and fertilizer their bearing may return.

Start adoption procedures for Tlaib, Omar the roach queen, Pelvis Pressley, Hispanic Cortez, hump-backed Harris and Sarsour the eyesore - somebody, somewhere must want them.

I think we can safely look back at this moment and say "wow, that whole 4 years was a complete waste of time and a joke". He spoke to a lot of people about how bad the government is and people agreed, but he clearly has no clue on what he is doing. Whenever he doesn't get his way, he goes and cries about it on twitter. Like, ok you are going to have life struggles and you are going to get a lot of bad press...it happens when you have a lot of people who expect a lot of results.

The only support you can really give him is a pat on the back. Because he does a better job as a reality tv star than a real estate mogul and president combined.
TexChik · F
@JarJarBoom President’s don’t surround themselves with people who argue . He’s brash and bold and gets things done in the most negative corrupt congress in history . The Saturday are pretty clear now ... 10 years from

Zonuss · 41-45, M
@TexChik No it is not. We lost over 60,000 manufacturing jobs since 2000. The recession was massive. And with 1,000 retail stores closing this year its proof that this new age economy is not what it use to be. Small town mom and pop businesses are not the same. And even the record industry is in decline because the culture even has changed from what it was since the previous century. Trump should be called the 'exaggerator' n chief because he is a liar.
Simple and plain. But of course you are dumb enough to believe him. 🙂
JarJarBoom · 41-45, F
@TexChik Any leadership role should have opposers. If everyone agrees with you, whats the point? Sometimes you gotta hear an opposing viewpoint in order to make the right decision.

AbbeyRhode · F
Liberals are programmed to be angry by their evil media overlords.
Angry people are irrational people.
It's easier to convince angry people to hate blindly,
without really knowing why.
Hate divides people, and makes them unreceptive to the truth.
And the last thing the media wants is people hearing the truth.
wildbill83 · 36-40, M

Liberals seem to think being mis-informed is better than being uninformed, and/or that subjective truths are more important than unequivocal facts...

I think people need to stop being angry about politics and get serious about improving their own situation in life.

No matter who is in office you have to handle your business. So handle it.
TheunderdogofNY · 36-40, M
@Fernie I think you missed the point but ok.
TheunderdogofNY · 36-40, M
@MistyCee I'm not saying it's easy or that you don't have a right to feel some kind of way.

I'm saying that you have to make things happen and do your best because no one else will do it for you.

Just because the task at hand becomes difficult doesn't mean you get to avoid it.

You know the difficulty of your situation and even with you explaining it to me I can only imagine how your life is dealing with your issues.

The only point I'm trying to make is that you have to figure it out. When you have a family to take care of this becomes even more true.

Also, This is a public forum so please don't feel any kind of way about saying what's on your mind and/or heart. I welcome open honest discussion even with those I disagree with.
@TheunderdogofNY Thanks for understanding.

These are trying times, but I think the way to get through them is indeed, to muddle on through and take care of business, and not to lose sight of the fact that we're all imperfect human beings trying to do the same with whatever life throws at us.
monte3 · 70-79, M

I find it ludicrously comical that there are some who believe that the only way one can have a negative opinion of Trump and not support him is if they have been brainwashed by the media, because it somehow strains reason and logic to believe that someone can critically assess the entirety of the man’s words, deeds, and history and not idolize, adore, and virtually worship him. 🙄 @monte3
abe182 · 46-50, M
@monte3 I'm not offended.
windinhishair · 61-69, M
Trump has purposely divided the nation to the point where more than 50% of the country is opposed to him and his divisive actions. That isn't going to change, because Trump is incapable of change. The anger is a result of his ongoing destruction of America. If he actually functioned as any other president before him, Democrat or Republican or Whig, that anger wouldn't be there.
Nimbus · M
@windinhishair I guess division is a fundamental aspect of living in a democracy.
When is becomes extreme we face the situation we are now in.
windinhishair · 61-69, M
@Nimbus That's probably a good way to put it. Democracy is messy sometimes, but when differences are purposely weaponized like now, it becomes problematic.
Nimbus · M
@windinhishair Exactly but is there a better system than democracy?

daisymay · 51-55, T

The main question to be asking is why did Trump win?
SW-User
The party challenging the incumbent party will always start with a clown car full of candidates. I just think Republicans handled their 2016 clown car so much better than Democrats are handling their 2020 clown car. They should relegate their B-team (especially Yang’s $1000 a month solution for everything and Williamson’s win-with-love tangents) to an earlier debate that’s tucked out of the way while forcing all their front runners on the same stage at the same time. The only possible explanation for that asinine format is that they’re twisting themselves like pretzels to avoid anything that might appear as a coronation similar to the sham they ran in 2016. @abe182
abe182 · 46-50, M
@SW-User I think they want a coronation from each group but I think you're right it's a cover my ass play.
SW-User
I think it’s clearly an overcompensation for 2016. It kind of reminds me of when Milli Vanilli got busted lip-syncing everything. All embracing love and adoration of the POTUS has never been part of the American political experience. We've torn our political proxies apart since the founding of the Republic. Washington, Jefferson, Lincoln were mocked and ridiculed in their day. In more recent years Clinton, Bush, Obama were mocked, ridiculed and raked over the coals. What's bizarre to me really is that we now have forgotten all that, and expect POTUS 45 to be held, nursed, and cuddled?
Nimbus · M
@CopperCicada Yes!

Nothing has ever changed and yet we challenge that it does exist.
@Nimbus I'm all for a more reasoned and civil political dialog. I personally think we have very macro scale problems that are more important than any election cycle or individual political legacy. More important than the special interests our politicians are beholden to. I say that now. I said that during POTUS 44's administration. During his predecessor.

I don't think it's a matter of not being angry and learning to love a particular politician. We have to get back to focusing on specific problems. But even posing a problem is a political position, and if you pose the wrong problems you're a commie or a fascist. I'm not even talking about posing solutions. Just talking about certain issues is politically loaded.
