Why do Republicans think that Donald Trump being re-elected will save them ?

I just see chaos. I see more racial tensions. More mass shootings. More trade wars. I see a great divide. There will not be any peace as long as Trump in office. I feel there will be a massive overkill and the Dems will be in the same position they were in like they were after Bush number 2. Its going to be messy. And Trump will be ignored in the history books. What do you think. 🙂
MarkPaul · 26-30, M
The Republicans in positions of power are intoxicated with the power and only want to stay in power. That's not necessarily a reflection on Republicans (real ones or the fake ones, aka Baby-trump followers). It mostly reflects all of human nature.

"The base" isn't really interested in any of the social issues to any large degree, they are basically just getting a kick out of believing their support of Baby-trump is agonizing to those who they feel have ignored them (and their kind) for so long. And, so in that sense they too feel a sense of power (finally) and they too are intoxicated with that; they won't let go.

And, the person commonly referred to as Baby-trump is basically engaged in a programming exercise. He sees a group of people who have been mismanaged by being ignored and saw a way to build quick market share. He's giving them what they crave and he has their instant endorsement. Even the fat man supporter who Baby-trump body-shamed loves the grossly obese Baby-trump even more now. Roger Ailes described his programming choice for building Fox News (and Entertainment) as a way to quickly reach a market of people who were not being served. He clearly stated that if liberals were the ones not being represented by the media, he would just as easily and unapologetically oriented Fox towards them. It's simply a game of numbers. Baby-trump is in a somewhat unique position of not having a personal interest in any of the issues he proclaims as his own. Like the middle school girl with raging hormones squirting estrogen all over the place, he just wants to be popular.

And, so he gives the Republicans and those who call themselves Republicans want they want (recognition) and they give him what he wants (undying and breathless loyalty and the feeling he is popular).

@MarkPaul Deep.
@MarkPaul Damn, that's a great take on the situation.
Why did they think that a chaos candidate wouldn't bring chaos when they nominated him in 2016?

He's not a peace bringer. He's shit stirrer.
Harriet03 · 41-45, F
@Zonuss It's not the republican party anymore, they've gone waaaayyy beyond that!! 🤷‍♀️
@Zonuss please don't fall into the us vs them trap on this. It makes you sound like one of them. 😅

I think, actually, in terms of history, Trump will have his chapter if he gets a second term.

Take a peek at this wiki on the much maligned know nothing/American party. It's interesting, because while they got a deservedly bad rep, in context, they were just part of the puzzle, opposed slavery, and did some pretty "progressive" sounding things in a short time.

I'm trying pretty hard to be optimistic today, I know.

@MistyCee I try hard not to. But sometimes its just so fun beating up these Trumptards with their own logic. 🤭

[c=#BF0000]They just like Trump 'cause he tells em wut they wanna hear. To the simple minded he seems 'different' from all the previous presidents 'cause of his 'straight talking' rhetoric which actually just comes off as a kid running for class president. Dats all Trump supporters see and they either don't care about whether he's even making things better or they're dumb enough to believe in all the ridiculous stuff he proposes.. which is why they are his target audience, he manipulates them 'cause dats wut businessmen do [/c]
Zonuss · 41-45, M
@TexChik Why are you mad at her. She speaks the truth. And its a very fundamental one too. You are a simpleton. You cannot match her logic here. 🙂
Zonuss · 41-45, M
@MistyCee You left out he is a master salesman, too. 🙂
SW-User
@MistyCee [c=#BF0000]Yeah I agree but I was just explaining in simple terms. Just an example of his hypocrisy which shows he basically manipulates people is how he said 'all muslims should be banned' then as soon as he becomes president he flies to Saudi Arabia to kiss their feet and the countries he banned had negligible to no terror attacks in the US so he basically did it for show. And we all know about his 'wall' proclamations when it was obvious dat was never going to be feasible but hearing it pleased his supporters. [/c]

you honestly think democrats will stop bitching if Trump is not re-elected?
things will only continue to get worse no matter who is president. Those people love causing shit and feeling special
QuixoticSoul · 41-45, M
@RasHorror They'll be drowned out by hillbilly bitching lmao
RasHorror · 36-40, M
@QuixoticSoul very unlikely

Incumbents almost always win

@HoraceGreenley
The political sentiment swings back and forth regardless of impeachment issues.
Historically, that is not true.

Only times the 8-year swing occurred since the end of Civil War?

1912 - 1920 Wilson
1952 - 1960 Eisenhower
1960 - 1968 JFK-LBJ
1968 - 1976 Nixon-Ford
1992 - 2000 Clinton
2000 - 2008 Bush 43
2008 - 2016 Obama
---
total of 56 years

How many presidential term-years that it wasn't the case?

1868 - 1884 Hayes, Garfield, Cleveland
1888 Cleveland lost re-election
1892 Harrison lost re-election
1896 - 1912 McKinley, T. Roosevelt, Taft
1920 - 1932 Harding, Coolidge, Hoover
1932 - 1952 F. Roosevelt, Truman
1976 - 1980 Carter
1980 - 1992 Reagan, Bush
---
total of 88 years

years noted are the years of elections

I'd also note that in both the 2000 and 2016 election, the winner lost the popular vote, only narrowly winning the electoral college.

Furthemore, Ford narrowly lost the election in 1976 and Bush narrowly won in 2004. I'd further add that Eisenhower was barred from running for a third term or he might have also nixed the 8-year myth. And Wilson suffered a stroke or he might have ran for a third term campaign on support for U.S. entry in the League of Nations.
HoraceGreenley · 56-60, M
@beckyromero I'm looking at the past 40 years
beckyromero · 36-40, F
@HoraceGreenley

😂

I'm not.

And even if one did:

1980 Carter lost after one-term
1980 - 1992 Reagan served two terms, succeeded by Bush
1992 Bush lost after one-term
1992 - 2000 Clinton served two terms and then Al Gore won the popular vote
2004 Bush 43 narrowly won re-election
2016 Hillary won the popular vote

The 8-year limit is a myth. It surely has some effect. But it is NOT the predominating factor.
UckfayOuyayOotay · 46-50, M
Spot on observations. With any luck the Democrats will end up with a nominee the millennials can get behind this time around and Trump gets voted out.
RasHorror · 36-40, M
@UckfayOuyayOotay not going to happen
GerOttman · 61-69, M
I think if the Democrats want to prevent another 4 years of Trump, they better bring more to the table than Creepy Joe and Vanilla Kamela!
Zonuss · 41-45, M
@GerOttman I think the Dems are in on this, and will sabotage their chances. And do not care if Trump is reelected for the reasons I mentioned above. 🙂
GerOttman · 61-69, M
@Zonuss So it's a plot to take over the Senate! Could be..
For the same reason democrats think the world will end of he is.

Its irrational blind faith in your chosen political ideology.
Zonuss · 41-45, M
@Callmewhatyouwill Actually we don't believe that the world will end cause of Trump.
But I am positive that many Trumptards believe that it will be the end if he loses. 🙂
@Zonuss you may not. But many do.

But yea the inverse is true as well.

Everything and everyone is Damned for what will be or maybe will be or for not being. Then pin it all on the POTUS. No matter who they are.
sunrisehawk · 61-69, M
Find it interesting that the degree of hate directed at Trump and his supporters is so intense. Then they scream and cast that vitriol at Trump and must truly believe that he is causing the tension and fears in the world that that they feel.
Zonuss · 41-45, M
@sunrisehawk No. In your (eyes) Trumps actions are good for the country. But in many others he is very manipulative, and plays on the fears and anxieties of a very fragile and terrified group of people. His words are wicked and are a sign of a very cunning and devious man. He uses racial over and undertones to speak to his base. He stirs up trouble with his divisive rhetoric and terms. He is as clever as a fox. Im sorry you are not intelligent enough to see this SunriseHawk. 🤔
sunrisehawk · 61-69, M
@Zonuss You're so blinded by hate and have so little argument that you immediately resort to insults. Makes my point, thank you.
Zonuss · 41-45, M
@sunrisehawk No. Im not blinded. I am very aware and I can read people like a book. Youre a very old and outdated perspective my friend. You are looking at this from an old frame of mind. You need to see Trump for who he is and get rid of this homogenous mentality. Get with the times and stop being such a follower. 😡

Like we had leave before he was in office. Lol

The previous president started it. It can’t be changed over night.

They think that if he doesn’t get re-elected then the economy will tank and their 401k’s will disappear. The market is already struggling because of his failed tariff war tbh.
