The UK allowed thousands in after the 1776-1783 War. Many were from the maritime states who knew their economy would be bumpy after indepedence. Others flooded into Canada, much to that nation's benefit. As long as we ensure the hooks, crooks, bottlewashers and gun-toting lunatics don't come, we should be fine.

@bijouxbroussard And most adopted a wait and see approach.. From what I can gather, some have seen enough and are now looking at 2020 to save them. But I suspect the economy will push a whole new can of worms into the fan.
