Do you think that White Supremacy is an actual problem in the United States?

Discuss
BlueVeins · 22-25
Well, the Anti-Defamation League puts total contemporary KKK membership at 3,000 and the Southern Poverty Law Center says 6,000. While I'd prefer for white supremacism to stop existing altogether, these numbers are historically low and they would seem to indicate that blatant white supremacism has been all but eradicated.

That said, there are still racial tension in this country -- highlighted by recent events and stuff -- and there's still racial bias, evident in courtroom conviction and sentencing statistics and elsewhere.

@TheyWhoseNameCanNotBeSpoken It's sad how it appears to be an industry, built on the backs of people of all colors who have experienced unmentionable crimes. Still, I choose to keep my eyes open. People are nuts.

@TheyWhoseNameCanNotBeSpoken ...which, in my opinion, equates with aiding and abetting.
FreestyleArt · 31-35, M
No. The Democrats created that shit in the 1800's. now days they use it for propaganda to divide us and kill each-other while the KKK sits back and laugh at all the gangs killing each-other.
daisymay · 51-55, T
@FreestyleArt Riddle me this, how many Klansmen or Nazis ran as Democrats in the last 3 elections?

And how many as Republicans?

Hint: the answers are "0" and "more than 1"

Remember when the GOP used to be pro-union? What's up with that crazy shit?
GoldenWorm · 51-55, M
There's no question. They just shot up the garlic festival and think it ok to drive cars into liberals. They are hyper violent and lie about it.

Other groups like antifa just don't have the same arrest, prosecution and dead count.
abe182 · 46-50, M
@GoldenWorm it was a she and because you don't listen to the other side just your own, or you derail the conversation.
GoldenWorm · 51-55, M
@abe182 facts matter and I wasn't seeing any. The SPLC is a force for good, if some one doesn't like the hate designation, it's on them to refute the evidence, not attack the SPLC.
abe182 · 46-50, M
@GoldenWorm I'm not here to defend the SPLC

I think it's a problem wherever it exists. It had been pushed out of the limelight and perceived negatively in society until recent events have given it a new voice and media coverage. People who kept their racism closeted now feel emboldened to act and talk the way they want. That is a problem. I think most Americans are not racist, but sadly, the extremes get the attention.
FloorGenAdm · 51-55, M
Youth full of piss n vinegar and every group has radicals. I think the media is making mountains out of mole hills with a lot of it, not that it's the best path to take but when the drug lord El Chapo gets life plus 30 years and they wanted to give James Field Jr. life plus 409 years there appears to be a gross imbalance of justice. Plus today's racial education by law is way more thorough than anytime in history. On the world scale there are way more people of color than there are whites. Attitude can swing both ways so I guess it's a problem as much as anything else is a problem.
daisymay · 51-55, T
@FloorGenAdm
James Field Jr. life plus 409 years
How sad he got convicted under hate crime statutes and had the full weight of the law thrown at him, eh?

"Zero-tolerance except when I like the person!" doesn't have the same fiery zest

It's still a problem wherever that kind of moronic ideology rears its ugly head.

Of the total of 917 hate groups in the US, 450 of them are white hate groups. There are 100 white nationalist groups, and 78 racist skinhead groups.

The 99 neo Nazi groups are growing, (The manipulation of the mainstream media is attributed to a rise the far-right neo-Nazi movement, according to the Data and Society Research Institute. Links between US and European neo-Nazis are also said to be growing stronger, according to the SPLC.https://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-40915356 ).

There are 43 neo-Confederate groups, and 130 KKK chapters. The KKK is estimated to have between 5000 and 8000 members. They are the largest group for which numbers are available.

Since Charlottesville, the amount of press these groups have received is out of proportion to the actual number of people and their influence. They are considered to be fringe groups.

It is a left wing foil. Democrats furthered it for centuries and now claim to be against it.
SubstantialKick · 31-35, M
@MasterLee It is not a left or a right thing.
ImKelsey · 26-30, F
Yes. It's not as prevalent as it once was. Neither is the 'poor black me' problem. May it all go away.
It has been for forever and many will either deny it or try to justify it.
redredred · M
No. its both horrible and essentially non-existent. Its a very rare form of stupidity.
It is a problem because Some people actually are racist.. But not everyone.. Thankfully..

That bitch at the store tho.. I totally cussed her out (not out loud tho..) i was like "racist bitch" i just walked in the store and she tells these other people "oh i thought she was trying to steal your groceries"

As if.. Like wtf **** 😤 Whatever bitch (sorry i needed to rant) 😤😡
I have seen a lot of it sadly. But then any kind of Supremacy is a problem. I have seen Hispanics with race supremacy as well so it is not just one race doing it. I think in American white Supremists are on the news more because that is the majority. Other countries it might be Arabs, or Serbs or what have you.
Recluse · 46-50, M
daisymay · 51-55, T
@Recluse It's not a problem if you're white, eh?
Recluse · 46-50, M
@daisymay
I wouldn't know one way or the other.
And As far as I'm aware I haven't been directly effected by any radical ideology or bullshit such as that.
Jackaloftheazuresand · 26-30, M
numbers are negligible
ChiyoSKL · 31-35, F
I can only speak for myself. There is so much in this country I’ll never see or experience so I can’t say yes or no. Not like we can trust what we are told.
SW-User
Yes. However, it’s not as common as it was in the past. Every now and then you’ll have some dude associated with them committing some sort of hate crime.
Heartlander · 80-89, M
It's a problem if and when it creeps into our governmental systems, much like Black Supremacy would be. So I think there's always a need to monitor the conduct of government agencies and the social sub-groups or clusters within.

Most institutions have a self serving tendency to protect itself from bad publicity and may have a tendency to cover-up misconduct. So yea, there's a need to monitor what's happening in the locker room.
RodionRomanovitch · 56-60, M
The FBI does ..... or maybe that's just another deep state conspiracy. 🤔
daisymay · 51-55, T
@RodionRomanovitch They did, before the Trump Regime took over, that is.
indyjoe · 56-60, M
Yes it is a problem and always will be as long as there are racists and haters...but it is not the widespread epidemic that it has gotten blown up to be. Most of us white people are totally against racism and we will stand with the victims of it and against the perpetrators of it, but to hear it said, that isn't true by general consensus.

@Stereoguy Already on to the personal attacks?

Okay, I accept your concession of defeat. Have a nice day.
4meAndyou · F
@Stereoguy It's SO funny to me, after I've blocked someone and can no longer see their posts, how, over and over again, I see the people who still speak to them say that they've lost their minds...😂
Except for being distasteful and disturbing - maybe not a problem, but it bears watching.

It amuses me that such movements are an honest admission of inadequacies. “We can’t compete on a level playing field.”
MasterLee · 56-60, M
SubstantialKick · 31-35, M
Yes it is and as you can see there are fools here who have the audacity to deny when they know darn well it exists.
SW-User
Not if you're white and that pretty much says it all
Groofydorkgerdo · 56-60, M
More like an irritation than a problem.
