Does every nation have a Trump?

In our recent election a couple of bigoted racist right wing nut jobs stood , using the Trump style message. Fraser Anning (famous for egg boy) lost his seat and disappeared without a trace. Pauline Hanson, the semi literate red head lost ground and became even less relevant than she was, in spite of seeking NRA funding. And Clive Palmer, a mining millionaire who copied Trump chapter and verse and spent somewhere between $50 and $80 million on advertising, got NOTHING.
So, do any other nations have Trump like candidates running for office and is there any other nation where they are taken at all seriously by the mainstream voters.
Or is America the Afro-American sheep of the family?

There are plenty of Trumps the world over, but you need a... special electorate to overlook the "complete fucking clown" aspect of these types of folks - which tend to be distinct from simple populist jackasses that crop up everywhere.

You need Italians, Phillipinos, Brazilians, etc - and this last time around, we also joined the party.

@QuixoticSoul Yes. Berlusconi would qualify for sure. Duterte in the Philippines is a different brand of nut job. , but Okay, lets throw him in. As a side issue I cant help wondering how many Americans even know those guys exist.

I believe so. The U.S. is center stage and It was only a matter of time before a buffoon like Trump inspired others to act like him.

Here we´ve got a miniature of Trump and Vlad Tepes (Drácula), Mauricio Macri.

Competing with a miniature of Al Capone, Cristina K.

No one vote them cos think they are good, just against the one who feel worst. Who is, by turns, the last one in power.

As I am, no matter the pragmatic excuses, and as No One cares for the People, I´ll vote to Dr. Noone.

@beckyromero Oh, but it remains to be true, Calígula had no Twitter. And neither Nero, right!
But, some centuries later, there are ones of the kind that haves Twitter.

@eli1601 No Boris. We are lucky that YOU have him. He appeals to the gun toting individialist all Americans (including you) like to see yourselves as. The trouble is the "Indian Wars" are over and it was Americas industry that got you to the head of the table. Not your cowboy values. Now thats gone, you needed a unifying force, not a dividing one. No President can unify you. The lobbies wont allow it. But this one has a tail wind dividing you. Keep your powder dry.

"Afro-American" sheep ? Part of the problem...🙄

Ironically, The UK's Boris Johnson has been compared to Trump, both in hairstyle and rhetoric. And Trump himself has "suggested" that Johnson replace Theresa May, a suggestion that they'll ignore if they're wise.

@bijouxbroussard I don't get the "Afro-American sheep" comment either....It sounds racist to me.
whowasthatmaskedman · 70-79, M
@Drummer That was mine and a sideways refer to the "Black Sheep of the Family" If I had meant it to be racist I would have used the "Ethiopean in the fuel supply" A sideways reference to something in the woodpile. But I didnt. I dont use language like that.

@whowasthatmaskedman Given that probably less than 2 percent of Afro Americans, Black Americans or African Americans voted for Trump, I was perplexed by your reference. Simply saying Black sheep would have been easier to follow.

Those who did often reference his position on the wealthy paying less taxes as their reason or say he's pro-business.

Plenty of that sort of stuff here (UK). We have a Party (the Conservatives) of which the membership is mostly old people. Of course they would love to see Boris Johnson as Prime Minister.

It seems like many countries are becoming irrational, leaning towards fascism, and letting the worst possible people take charge.
Just as I saw your question, I heard Someone say Trump on my tv and now he’s on. That’s creepy.
SatanBurger · 36-40, F
Actually you're spot on, I never thought of it like that but scary 🤔

Most do.

Russia has Vladimir Zhirinovsky, for example.

Perhaps not Luxembourg or Liechtenstein.
