Did you find trump supporters among people that you least expected would support him, or did you find them exactly where you expected?

I’ve been shocked by some trump supporters and not at all surprised by others.

It’s not his hardcore supporters who surprise me. Hearing their defense as to why they support him confirms a few things that unite them all: hidden bigotry, ignorance, immaturity/inability to admit erring, and deep rooted unaddressed animosity, just to name a few. So in the end, no surprises at all.

The ones who surprised me are the ones who won’t renounce trump simply to remain opposed to Democrats. Maybe I just don’t understand conservatism. I overrated their intelligence or underrated their selfishness.

I thought I was a good judge of character. I now know how easily people can hide their true selves. trump gave them permission to reveal their true character.

Most of the Trump supporters I know are logical, intelligent, educated professional people.
So how do you explain liberals, the most racist and ignorant people out there?
GunSmoke9 · 56-60, M
@DraytonSawyer I gave it a shot.

There are a few people from EP whom I definitely would never have predicted as Trump supporters. Most have blocked me, or I’ve blocked them. I obviously never really knew them. As far as I’m concerned they might as well have been closet KKK. To me it’s basically the same thing. 😒

@bijouxbroussard

You're a better woman than I am...talking to them (for me) is like going swimming in nuclear waste. I just can't do it!!
@WalksWith Yeah, it gets incredibly tiresome. I’d save myself headaches if I just said “bye” and blocked as soon as they appear on my posts. 😅

Lol!! Yes, it would!!

The real bigots as always are the democrats who simply project their evil onto others. Of course democrats don't know any history and thus have nothing to base their opinions on other than the news they gather from DNC headquarters aka CNN MSNBC etc. Kind of funny to watch from outside the country.

It is amazing how far people will go in support of trump just so they can hate on Democrats. However, these people are the ones who thought Obama was a Muslim or wasn't born in the US, or whatever crazy thing they believe.

Its not that different from outright trump supporters, its just a different angle.
JesseInTX · 51-55, M
No young lady, President Trump took a page out of the Dems own playbook and started calling them out on lies and untruths. Now Dems want to act “dignified”. Young folks like you do not understand this, nor the accomplishments he’s achieved. Nor do the people you allow to form your opinion for you over the facts.

"...few things that unite them all: hidden bigotry, ignorance, immaturity/inability to admit erring, and deep rooted unaddressed animosity, just to name a few...."

This is exactly what i see in the 3000 announced democrat candidates and the bigoted fools who support them.

I’m shocked by all the trump haters very prepared to turn a blind eye to what’s been going on.. because it was trump.. not someone they liked..

The more I talk to them the more I feel they don’t care. They claim to be anti establishment and defenders of the constitution. But since Trump has been in office that has since disappeared. It’s more about getting back at Democrats and Liberals than this whole MAGA crap. Plus if Trump supporters were for these things they would have been 10x as more pissed at what Trump has been doing while in office, they did it with Obama, so what’s so different about this guy?
SW-User
NO, everyone I know hates him. I'm not from USA btw
CountScrofula · 41-45, M
I'm in Canada so it's rare to find a hardcore Trump supporter, but yeah I agree with everything. It's a lot disturbing.
of course. Uranium Bobby would have charged trump jr if there was one iota of proof..
but you got this Joey bag of donuts.. show us your proof? 😏
SevIsPamprinYouAlways · 56-60, F
@TheOneyouwerewarnedabout Replying to why Junior won’t get any sort of nomination, ever.

But, of course, the meeting was all about adoptions! Why, I can’t imagine why Daddy would need to draft a letter with Hope Hicks to address that issue if that were the case!
Virgo79 · 61-69, M
@MarineBob yes that's the shit they believe😂
hunkalove · 61-69, M
You are wise, young woman. I couldn't have said it better.
No. They all smell the same.
WalksWith · 51-55, F
Nope...not at all surprised! I have nothing in common with them anyway, so would never have been friends with them to begin with! The Republicans that I know, did not vote for him, but, they are not stupid, like his die hard base.
JP1119 · 36-40, M
I was kind of shocked, it seems like I heard several Republican friends/acquaintances express disgust that he was winning the Republican nomination and say that they did not support him. By contrast, I do not recall hearing any centrists or Democrats say anything favorable about him. I feel like a moron for saying this now, but I hadn’t paid attention to the polls, so I actually voted for Clinton instead of Stein because I thought she had a significant chance of carrying my state. Guess what state I live in.

Missouri 😞

So to answer your question, no, I don’t remember anyone I knew in person expressing support for Trump that surprised me.

Yes, I know more than a handful of people that hide their political inclination in fear of retaliation from their employers or friends.

I wasn't shocked at all. I live in a very backwards state so pretty much everyone around me except for maybe 5 people.

[c=#BF0000] Whenever I find out I'm always like 'well that actually makes sense' 🤷‍♀️ I dunno.. they're a certain kind of people[/c]
RodionRomanovitch · 56-60, M
No need to answer that really ...... you absolutely nailed it right there.
MethDozer · M
A few have. On the other hand most that have surprised me aren't very involved in politics as a whole and live far removed from areas his BS has much impact on.

For the most part it isn't they are mean people or hateful. They just don't have the life experiences and relationships to see the damages.
@MethDozer Both. Someone was talking about Trump making America safe for white people again, and these were the folks quietly hearting that post.
MethDozer · M
@bijouxbroussard Oh. We mean here?

That's pretty telling yah
@MethDozer Yep. But they were my “friends” back on EP. That is one aspect of VIP that has been an eye-opener. 😒
