Clive Palmer (Australia's Trump) Who is laughing now?

Every nation has one. America has Trump. We have Clive Palmer. A fatter, cheesier version of Trump. (If you can believe that) This mining tycoon turned politician did a term as a Senator previously and turned up for a quarter of the votes. This time he started his own party parodying the Trump style pointing out everyone elses flaws , making outrageous statements and vague promises and even running on "Make Australia great." You get the picture.. He fielded candidates nationwide and spent $80 Million on advertising and got.........NOTHING. We may have our problems with politicians. But we do know what to do with an @$$hole when we see one. 🖕😂
I dunno. There is an embarrassing number of pro-Trump Australians on this site. But if you’re keeping folks like him out of office in your own country, good on ya ! 😅👍🏽

@Shutterbug I wonder if his ad agency got their money up front.? If not they could be waiting a while.

@whowasthatmaskedman they are in queue behind the nickel workers!
whowasthatmaskedman · 70-79, M
@Shutterbug True. And I wonder if that promise will be kept now.

Why would anyone want to be exactly like Trump and do the same stuff he does? Especially in a country where things are much better than they are in the United States.

@SW-User His logic was "It worked for him. It will work for me" and if he threw enough money at it, he thought he could buy a senate seat. He was wrong. Thankfully.People saw him for what he was. And thanks for the pro Aussie vote. I agree. Having lived in both places and others, this is the best overall. We really dont need guns if no one is shooting at us.

@ISpeakTheTruth He is Unethical, dishonest, and Lazy. Sound like anyone you know??
Shutterbug · 56-60, M
@ISpeakTheTruth umm..... I think he was the only drained! 😂
Shutterbug · 56-60, M
@ISpeakTheTruth doesn't unethical business decisions say a lot about ones fitness for office? In the US it might a mandatory requirement, but in Australia we take a dimmer view

eli1601 · 70-79, M
@whowasthatmaskedman Is she President? For her, not being President is worse. 👍️

I was sad Labor lost. They are not as left as I would like but much better than the liberal and national coalition.

Can’t we put all those similar guys together on one island and make them stay there?

What went wrong for Labor?
whowasthatmaskedman · 70-79, M
@Burnley123 A heavily negative campaign run by the Conservatives. Including non existent "Pensioner Tax and Death Tax" ads. Labor went positive and forward looking. Its simpler to scare people that you are going to take things away than to offer possible benefits they dont already have.
That and the Labor leader always had a personal popularity issue.

@whowasthatmaskedman It saddens me that Australia is such a right wing country.

You used to have this egalitarian spirit based on a justified hatred of the British empire but now its really money driven and nationalistic. The immigration hatred is intense even compared to other places.

@Burnley123 I just had a look at how difficult it would be to move across the ditch to NZ. Going to sleep on it.
