Centrist Denocrats: would you vote for Bernie in the General Election?

If he wins the Primary or someone else who is not your first choice, would you vote for him ahead of you know who.
SmartKat · 56-60, F
I will vote for *any* Democrat, in an effort to oust the Republicans. It’s not the time to get too picky about exact ideology.
Burnley123 · 41-45, M
@SmartKat I don't see how anyone can call themselves a progressive if they don't vote against Trump.
I will vote for anyone who has a chance of beating Trump no matter what side they are on.
Graylight · 51-55, F
I think this country could do well with a centrist Democrat. A centrist Republican, for that matter. However, I'm not sure Sanders is the candidate of choice. He's taken on this 'really cool Grandpa' air, but the fact is his 40 plus years in government have yielded very little and his plans now are thin on realistic ways to make them happen.
@Graylight let's be honest about your criticism none of the candidates have realistic ways to make their plans happen short of us completely defeating the republicans and wiping them out so bad they lack the required 41 seats in the senate to mount a filibuster.

The Republicans and especially their elected officials see all democrats including the base as mutant freaks who are subhuman mongrels fit only for being slaughtered/killed and pure evil.

you act as if bernie is unique in being unrealistic. Mitch intends to filibuster everything if we take the senate. He's already on the record saying that that is his intent.

just like they did the last time around. Unless the democrats have their Balrog to knock gandalf off the platform to his death as he screams "YOU SHALL NOT PASS!" (I'm being metaphorical) we have no hope of passing any legislation at all regardless of who we as a party Nominate.

if you believe ANY of the candidates or a Centrist democrat could get their agenda through I have a Bridge i'd like to sell you.

@whowasthatmaskedman Yeah, President Trump sure pissed off the goddamndemocrats by defeating the Chosen One
whowasthatmaskedman · 70-79, M
@sunsporter1649 I give you the win. Just dont push it. She was a terrible candidate with an awful campaign. A lot of democrats stayed home. Thats not happening this time just to get Trump out..
Rutterman · 46-50, M
I supported Sanders in 2016 and wouldn't hesitate to vote for him in the 2020 general election.
Rutterman · 46-50, M
@sunsporter1649 I hope so.
whowasthatmaskedman · 70-79, M
@sunsporter1649 Wasnt that what Trump Promised the Rich? Plus a free wall.
sunsporter1649 · 70-79, M
@whowasthatmaskedman Gee, since all your candidates for President are rich, should they not be supporting President Trump?
Northwest · M
It doesn't really matter. They're all following Soros' orders :-) I'll vote for a can of ham, if it has a chance of defeating Trump. The country and the world cannot take more of his lunacy.
monte3 · 70-79, M
I would probably vote for Lucifer before he who must not be named.
But we am still trying to imagine Bernie or Warren carrying PA, MI and WI.
beckyromero · 36-40, F
@Burnley123
He beat hillary in most of the dem primaries there too.
I wouldn't necessarily say that.

Closed Primaries: (Democrat voters only)
KY - Clinton
PA - Clinton

Open/Modified Primaries:
IL - Clinton
IN - Sanders
MI - Sanders
MO - Clinton
OH - Clinton
SD - Clinton
WV - Sanders
WI - Sanders

Caucuses: (These voters tend to be left-wing party loyalists)
IA - Clinton
MN - Sanders
NE - Sanders
ND - Sanders
beckyromero · 36-40, F
@monte3
Is VA in that much of play?
Democratic Party is a mess in VA right now.

2016 Results:
Clinton 49.75%
Trump44.43%
Johnson 2.97%
McMullin 1.36%
Burnley123 · 41-45, M
@beckyromero mixed picture. Fair enough.
beckyromero · 36-40, F
No.

I'd leave the presidential ballot spot blank before I'd vote for him (or Trump or Lizzy Warren, for that matter).
beckyromero · 36-40, F
@Burnley123

🙂

I would also make raising the minimum wage a major theme of a campaign, not the pie-in-the-sky free college proposal Lizzy is touting.
whowasthatmaskedman · 70-79, M
@Burnley123 Having the government handle something instead of private enterprise does SOUND leftist. Until you look at how crooked the system gets using the existing business and lobbyist network. Only then do you see that the lack of oversight and price gouging makes the Govt alternative cheaper and more efficient.
Burnley123 · 41-45, M
@beckyromero You do realise that I'm to the left of Bernie? I'm a leftist by european standards lol. I am a pragmatist strategically but I don't think we will agree on everything. Nice chat though.
Just my opinion-he got fucked over in '16, and rest assured he'll get fucked over again-not that it bothers me.

FWIW-I've known many who chose NOT to vote-soon they lamented whoever was in office. Don't, my friend throw your privilege to vote away!@calnative
sunsporter1649 · 70-79, M
I can't wait for mayor pete to get elected. Should be funny seeing him in a dress at his first news conference, kissing his husband
Bernie is still waiting for the tapioca cart to come around.
eli1601 · 70-79, M
Centrist democrats? Aren't they extinct?
