So the "Bern" admitted publicly that "free" health care for everyone is not really free. (Question below).

He plans to jack everyone's taxes...everyone...to pay for it. You won't be able to get healthcare at little or no cost through your employer anymore. You will be forced to take the so-called "free" "Medicare for All". No choice for you. And it will cost about double (or triple out of your net paycheck) compared to what Medicare costs now, because so many more people will have to be covered.

So my question is for all the people struggling to pay off enormous college loans. You lose the little to no cost employee heatlh care at work, you are still paying off your college loans, but your net paycheck is going to go DOWN, because your taxes are going to go way up.

So...if the "Bern" does what he wants to do and forces us into Medicare for all, how are you going to be able to pay your college loans and the new healthcare cost and still afford to eat?

And for seniors and others receiving specialized health treatments such as cancer treatments now on their private health insurance, are you aware that Medicare does not cover specialized health treatments such as advanced immunotherapy or gene therapy? How many seniors will be forced to go on welfare and Medicaid because they can't pay for their rent and pay more for Medicare?

Just asking.

Medicare (and I am a recipient of that) wasn't just given out. When you hit a certain age, the Government, basically made you take it, at least Part A. So, Sanders and probably others of his ilk have deemed it appropriate to render Medicare (What part(s)?) to "everyone". That seems to indicate there is no age requirement. But this is the "redistribution of wealth" horse shit the Democrats and Socialists, like Clinton, Obama and Sanders believe and are into. No, it is not free. Nothing such as any "social program"(welfare, section 8 housing, food stamps) are free...we the taxpayers are funding that, and if these malcontents in their socialist minds want this, they don't have the courage to say, "It's free, but you'll have to pay higher taxes to support these programs". Nothing is free...the taxpayers are the ones burdened with it. And it comes from a supporter of the redistribution of wealth who has a 6 figure log cabin on Lake Champlaign. He going to "re-distribute" that too, letting illegals for example, or welfare recipients stay there? I Doubt that.

@soar2newhighs I'll just take a slightly different position on the Medicare - they don't force it on you - it is what they damn well better provide since they have been wage taxing you for 40 plus years. same thing with social security - it isn't a handout if you've been paying the tax for decades.

(not arguing with anything else you said)

Let's see...Hey, let 16 year olds vote! Take in to sanctuary cities, illegals, now Sanders, buffoon, extraordinaire, proposes this nonsense. And why? They're terrified of Trump being re-elected next year, and they figure these proposals will get them more voters.

Need to try it out on all government employees And elected ones first

@MarineBob Now there's a thought.

@4meAndyou absolutely no waivers to be given out like the last president dide

It doesn't work! It is however the process to turn us into a socialist country which is the plan. Most can't figure that out because they only here FREE!
Quizzical · 46-50, M
@curiosi So you would rather believe some blatant propaganda rather than someone who lives here and actually uses the services... Fair enough, lol

I've recently been diagnosed with a Pulmonary Embolism with possible clotting elsewhere in my body

I attended accident and emergency, received emergency treatment within a couple of hours, then the very next day had a CT-Scan on my chest to verify the diagnosis, followed by two more CT-scans within a fortnight to locate the possible clot, have an appointment tomorrow for a consultation with a Haematologist, and have an echo-cardiogram booked for early next week just in case my heart has suffered some damage...

And all for no extra charge.

Yeah, it's a really shitty system 🙄
Here's a good read for those who want to see what Socialism means, and for those perhaps, not smart enough to appreciate following this mindset. https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/18820570-barack-obama-s-rules-for-revolution

@curiosi Yes well, it appears at least the old goat realizes he isn't going to sell this by claiming it's free but he has clearly already got one sucker on board who actually thinks it will be cheaper. You just have to wonder how these stupid idiots manage to get from one day to the next.
nothings free. anyone selling anything otherwise needs shooting.
We will have to pay 40% of our income if we want mediocre health care and Scandinavian style socialism. (Which is not really 'socialism' but enhanced public assistance.) The whole "socialism" scam is a way for democrat elites to hold on to power, and anyone who thinks it's a good idea, is gravely mistaken

Medicare for all? First, it's not FREE at the point of delivery unless you PAY more. I have Medicare and have to pay an additional $395 a month before it becomes almost free. My wife the same. So that amounts to an additional $790 a month before it's almost free at the point of delivery.

What does the extra $395 pay for? Medicare Part B + Medigap + prescription drugs + dental. For drugs and dental there's still a co-pay.

For the life of me, I can't see how the average person living on Social Security could possibly afford to pay the extra $395 a month that makes it almost free. Last I checked, the average SS monthly is about $1,450. If they can't afford the $395, their only option is a medicare advantage plan ... where they don't get to choose their doctors, or hospitals.
Heartlander · 80-89, M
@katielass We have a few complex issues that makes it risky to go advantage. Not having an advantage plan frees us from network confinements and lets us mix and shuffle. I remember the problems with PPO coverage we had before Medicare, especially when chasing an unknown.

One hook even with medicare-gap coverage is that switching to an advantage plan may preclude the possibility of later returning to medical-gap.
4meAndyou · F
@Heartlander Yay! I wish I had seen this answer earlier, because you would have been a contender for Best Answer.
katielass · F
@Heartlander Yeah, it depends on where you live. I was not going to do the advantage plan because it's an HMO and I had that on odumbcare-it was a disaster-but hubby has had the same one for years and he's liked it so I took a chance. It works for us but may not work for everyone. One thing you never want to do is chose something that prohibits you from going back and changing.

A hell of a lot of the college students don't have a clue were the government gets its money from
sunsporter1649 · 70-79, M
I will believe in it when I see Bernie the Red sitting next to me at the clinic
katielass · F
Yes, the medicare for all propaganda means your employer provided insurance will go away. So, this is going into the trash heap of dumtard ideas where it belongs.
should have stuff with Obama's health care - when he was touting it he said it would cost like 20 or 30 a month (and people believed him....sheesh)
Burnley123 · 41-45, M
Can't speak for America but what Bernie is suggesting works well in Europe and costs half per person in tax to what Americans pay in bills and premiums.
CheshireCatalyst · 36-40, M
We all manage it here. Have done for years 💪

@Quizzical
Anyone that works pays National Insurance and the amount differs depending on what they earn.
Not strictly true there is a loop hole which the better off and exceptionally wealthy use to get the government to cover there's. (An aside I know but I was horrified to learn this).
Quizzical · 46-50, M
@GeniUs Well, the super-rich ALWAYS find a way to screw the rest of us unfortunately... 😒
GeniUs · 56-60, M
This spreads it lower down the league (anybody who works as a contractor)
There are people getting good health insurance for little to no cost through their employer in this country...? Who are these people and where do they work?

I’m paying $400 per paycheck for a shitty, high deductible, generic prescription, network restrictive health coverage for my family through my employer and that’s been pretty consistent for the last 20 years...🙄
@puck61 I am not making bank...that’s the point😅 And my insurance provider is United😂😂😂🤦🏻‍♂️
@Haniazed Hmm. They are the best insurance I've ever had. I pay about a thousand a year . Unless there is some kind of special medical problem and then it's a bit more.
@puck61 is that just for yourself or you, your spouse and your family...?
Then he should not have admitted that....makes him look like a wanna be presidential hopeful (lost that gambit under Hillary and the DNC-obviously hasn't learned much), and those who are at his feet paying homage, look up and say, "What!!??, not free?"
Burnley123 · 41-45, M
In European countries, we pay half as much for our healthcare and everybody is covered. The state led model is empirically proven to be more efficient in this way.
ViciDraco · 36-40, M
Medicare will be changed to support those things. He's also always been honest that taxes will need to be raised, but the cost of taxes will be less than what Americans spend on private insurance premiums, actually saving money.

Also, the tax burden is going to be higher upon the wealthy, as it should be. That college kid isn't going to see his taxes raise unless he's already making significant earnings.
@ViciDraco When and[c=#BF0000] IF [/c]your beloved socialism takes hold you will be paying at least 40% of your paycheck to the government baby sitter. If you are not paying that much you will suffer dire consequences, because anyone who intends to pay less will be doing some serious Venezuela style socialism. Ask any Norwegian or Swede.
ViciDraco · 36-40, M
@puck61 if that covers medical care for all, tuition free college and trade school education, and ensures everyone has a home then it will be taxes well paid. But it's important that we eatablish new tax brackets for higher income levels as well to pay down national debt. Additionally, we could cut the military budget in half and still have the largest military budget on the planet.
@ViciDraco There are already too many educated idiots. It seems the stupidest people on earth are professional students. I know more now than they will ever learn, and I have forgotten more than they will ever come to know. The academic system is pumping out cookie cutter idiots by the millions. It is pure sickness.
Quizzical · 46-50, M
It works perfectly well in the UK
Well, this is not the UK, and things are different here.@Quizzical
Quizzical · 46-50, M
@soar2newhighs Very much so apparently...
joe438 · 61-69, M
@soar2newhighs Curious that the media runs reports like "The latest NHS patient survey showed that about one in five patients had to wait one week or more before they could see or speak to someone at their GP surgery. Ominously, the British Medical Association have added that patients should expect current waiting times to “rocket”." - Oxford Science Blog

If things work perfectly well, why should the wait times "rocket"? I found https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2017/10/22/soaring-numbers-flying-abroad-medical-care-nhs-lists-lengthen/ to be an informative read. Are you saying it's wrong?

At least he has a plan that he is putting out there to discuss and debate the merits of (or lack thereof). Still waiting to hear from the party of "no" what its alternative solution is...

It's lame for someone to propose a solution to a problem and allow others to see, examine and debate it? What ignorant corner of the universe do you inhabit? Ideas are MEANT to be discussed and evaluated. Like it or not, it IS an idea and one that merits examination. If the other side hates it so much, maybe they can finally get around to offering their own idea instead of nonstop criticism of thise trying to be innovative.
