We are all entitled to an opinion, though I would argue no president will ever have a 100% approval rating.

@Lackwittyname that’s true ...

@TexChik What would be nice is if we could just have intelligent debates and proposals from either side. Things have been so partisan for the last 18 years it has only led to a decline in the US. Sad to say, the last one to actually work both sides in a partisan effort was Slick Bill, and that was after a massive midterm loss for the Dems. But by doing that he had actually created a surplus and not a deficit, only to have each president after erase that.

@Lackwittyname yep he went back to Reganomics because he needed some shade to help cover his sexual escapades

Was it a surplus? Was there really extra money sitting somewhere?

To your main point I agree. They are all supposed to be working for us. I’m in favor of cleaning house totally in DC and imposing strict term limits and then electing real citizen representatives planning to do a job for a limited time for the public good and then return to their lives. That was the original intent. How hard is that? @Lackwittyname

Yeah jackwick there was a surplus during the Clinton years and it was used to pay off a part (small part) of the national debt.. and I do agree with your point on term limits.@jackjjackson

@jackjjackson Not so much extra money, but a balanced budget with surplus. So no, extra money was not sitting around. This said it is all about the smoke and mirrors, and skimming a few articles about it now, well, seems it is how you present the numbers, which seems to be the case for all of these guys.

I wish we could clean it all out, would love term limits, that is generally more of a danger than any president. Those in congress get to sit there as long as they want (providing reelection) and get deeper and deeper into lobbyists pockets. How hard is it, shouldn't be, but where we are seems to indicate it is.

What is it going to take for the American people to rise up and proclaim enough is enough? @Lackwittyname
Lackwittyname · 51-55, M
@jackjjackson Not sure it is possible. There are too many partisan issues that one side will not support with the other. To unify both sides and the center would need a common cause, which at this point there is not one. It would take a major scandal in congress, showing members on both sides involved in duping the citizens for something like that to happen, and sadly, they are too crafty for that to happen.
jackjjackson · 61-69, M
Perhaps an independent FBI and DOJ might ferret them out? @Lackwittyname
MasterLee · 56-60, M
@monte3 this mythical surplus and balanced budget lie. Wonders never cease.
Lackwittyname · 51-55, M
@jackjjackson That would be nice, though of course they are not truly independent. With presidential appointing and congress approving, they can cherry pick. Add those positions to a ballot, elected by the people, with no branch being able to terminate without just cause, and also having term limits. Nah, the whole system has been twisted and manipulated to serve those who should be serving us.

True that @Lackwittyname
