Americans, are you okay with this? For the next two years Congress will not pass or amend any laws.

DACA will be ignored. The Immigration laws will not get fixed. Nothing will get done but investigations. People are now saying that if Congress begins to investigate when they are motivated by hatred, when there is no evidence of a crime, it is the re-emergence of McCarthyism...which was a great evil.

The function of Congress is to make laws. They are also supposed to do oversight over the Executive Branch, but...

"Oversight is an implied rather than an enumerated power under the U.S. Constitution.[2] The government's charter does not explicitly grant Congress the authority to conduct inquiries or investigations of the executive, to have access to records or materials held by the executive, or to issue subpoenas for documents or testimony from the executive."

How do you feel about the plan for endless investigation which will prevent members of Congress from doing anything else?

Well at least now they have an excuse and something to blame getting nothing done on ,
When the Republicans held the house and the senate and the executive branch
Little was done ,and lots of things were done the Presidents claimed to know nothing about
When Dems held both branch's and the executive office ,same thing ,little gets done except sure up retirement packages for the wealthy and money robbed from Social Security and Medicare ,and Now Boomer's paid into that plan (insurance )
And the money is not there ,
Many like my Dad did not live to draw all he paid in ,Soldiers that were killed in action or died early deaths from wounds and diseases related to their service

Donald is the one that never let up about putting Hillery in Jail over Emails
or saying Oboma was an illegitimate President as he is not a US citizen and never let up until a birth certificate was finally produced

I am blown away Oboma Care even got through ,,,and the 2/3 vote was lowered in an attempt to appeal it ,and it was not abolished ,even though it was majority wins

So this is a case of you reap what you sow

My Grandma always taught me ,,"People that live in glass houses should not throw stones "
Guilty of High crimes and misdemeanors ?

DescriptionThe charge of high crimes and misdemeanors covers allegations of misconduct by officials, such as perjury of oath, abuse of authority, bribery, intimidation, misuse of assets, failure to supervise, dereliction of duty, unbecoming conduct, refusal to obey a lawful order, chronic intoxication, and tax
evasion.

Lets not forget ,Bill was not impeached for sex crimes ,and he was not the one originally under investigation ,,had Linda Tripp not taped Monica and excused for illegal wire tap ,and Monica not been told not to wash a dress ,,they had nothing on Bill though the investigation went on and on and billions spent on it
And all they had was lying to the grand jury while under oath

To me ,this is politics as usual ,,,,,lots of promises that never come to pass
OR we later see it was the blue collar workers that get screwed
and the wealth never trickles down

It would be an abdication of Congressional responsibility not to investigate presidential crimes. Thank goodness we finally have a House that will not function as protection for the White House. Let the facts lead where they will. If Congress gets nothing done, then oh well. That's what happens when a criminal is elected to the presidency. Some day we'll have a real president in the office and we can return to the business of the nation.

McCarthyism was a great evil of Republicanism, and now that we are repeating it with the Republicans, it still is.

You didn't seem to have a problem with nothing getting done during the last six years of Obama's presidency, when Congress was the most obstructionist in history.
Platoscave · F
@windinhishair obama was slightly kinder to those dark people south of the border. he also made some lame moves to help the environment. mostly he sold out to hold onto power. tragic.

but we are in more trouble than anyone can imagine. the violators of all stripes are ascendant.
too much money in politics.
windinhishair · 61-69, M
@Platoscave Money has a lot to do with it. Corporations can basically give whatever they want to, and have the ability to buy politicians of both parties.
Platoscave · F
yup.

I wouldn't be happy about that, but I don't think that's the plan. To the contrary, the broad scope and extent of the beginnings of this process leads me to think that the Democrats know they can't get away with endless investigations.

I also don't think the Democrats would even be capable of not at least appearing to avoid legisating in the way that Republicans did in the golden age of the tea party. Their base isn't built that way, and they're not going to be able to get away with not dealing with issues like infrastructure, for example, although I doubt there's much room for an immigration overhaul.
@4meAndyou lol. I'm curious as to how it went. Nielssen is pretty good too usually.
4meAndyou · F
@MistyCee The chairman (D), advised her to wrap it up, and didn't seem very interested in what she had to say. It won't make a scrap worth of difference, because the agenda is to crap on Trump, and if he wants anything fixed about illegal immigration or human trafficking of women being raped in transit the dems will pretend it doesn't exist.
@4meAndyou hmm. I'll have to see this at some point.
hlpflwthat · M
It only seems endless because it's not Benghazi and they keep indicting & convicting people this time around :)
windinhishair · 61-69, M
@hlpflwthat Or they just plead guilty knowing they will be convicted.
hlpflwthat · M
@windinhishair Yes. Certain Jethros were afforded little option.

Being at a standstill is better than moving in the wrong direction.
4meAndyou · F
@SW-User I've been thinking about this carefully, and I did remember from some ancient reading I did that the founders created the processes of Congress for exactly that reason. They did not want to make it easy...for anyone...to make new laws, to change things, or to mess with the Constitution.
SW-User
@4meAndyou the mechanisms they put in place to protect it have been disabled.
4meAndyou · F
@SW-User Ah. Didn't know that.
LonelyMan · M
Most all political investigations drag on forever, nothing of consequence ever comes from them. They are a total waste of time and $. Due to the division in our gov't, not much will get done. It's frustrating, but God is in charge. We will however, suffer the consequences of our gov'ts choices, or lack there of.
windinhishair · 61-69, M
@LonelyMan We are suffering the effects of Trump already. We will survive, but the world will be very different following his reign of immorality.
LonelyMan · M
@windinhishair I would have to disagree with you. I believe Trump is holding off the disaster that will take place when the Democrats take over. Regardless of who's in power, our nation will fall due to turning away from God.
windinhishair · 61-69, M
@LonelyMan Worshiping Trump is a very poor substitute for God.
Pfuzylogic · M
I got a better idea, impeach the bum.
Pfuzylogic · M
@boudinMan @4meAndyou
Why don’t you two teapartiers go troll another response
boudinMan · 61-69, M
@Pfuzylogic oh yeah, firing the FBI director is obstruction of justice, lol. and profiting from the presidency... there was a court ruling on that. look it up, no malfeasance. collusion? go ahead, present your case. if anyone colluded, it was hillary. and guess who was president when the collusion supposedly occurred? if i remember correctly, romney said russia was our biggest concern/nemesis during a debate with 0... it was laughed off. you made your bed, now sleep in it.
4meAndyou · F
@Pfuzylogic Ahem. I am the author of this post. I am an Independent voter with many liberal views. I would suggest that perhaps you are operating with an extremely closed mind.
SW-User
They are trying to pass laws, the issue is everyone votes by their party and nothing more. Thus nothing ever gets passed because party affiliation is more important than actual law-making.
Platoscave · F
single payer health must pass, so hope you are wrong.
4meAndyou · F
@MistyCee They are saying it is too expensive.
@4meAndyou yup, and that's a big reason I don't see it happening any time soon.
Platoscave · F
yup....I maintain my position.

Its for everyone.

We can afford it.

We need it NOW.

I also feel decidedly unwelcome on this post. Bye.
Budwick · 70-79, M
I think it sucks.
I think too that dems and RINOs will pay at the ballot box.
windinhishair · 61-69, M
@Budwick Trump is going to start charging a fee to vote? Lining his own pockets still.
4meAndyou · F
@Budwick I think you are right.
