Democrat's Double Standards

Ralph Northam does something racially insensitive in 1982

Ilhan Omar does something just as bad

[c=#BF0000]Just say you're sorry honey and it'll be OK[/c]

[big]Can anyone explain the double standard?[/big]
Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.), who has faced accusations of anti-Semitism for perpetuating the stereotype that Jews control politics with money, issued an apology Monday afternoon, a mea culpa amid a firestorm of criticism from both parties.

"Anti-Semitism is real and I am grateful for Jewish allies and colleagues who are educating me on the painful history of anti-Semitic tropes,” Omar said on Twitter. “We have to always be willing to step back and think through criticism, just as I expect people to hear me when others attack me for my identity. This is why I unequivocally apologize.”

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) and other Democratic leaders said in a statement that Omar’s use of “anti-Semitic tropes and prejudicial accusations about Israel’s supporters is deeply offensive,” but added that her critiques of Israel’s policies and its treatment of Palestinians are protected by free speech.

There are double standards on both polical sides and it's sad at best. And I certainly don't defend this one, nor any other Democrats. Or Republicans double standards...

That being said you're trying comparing 1982 politics to 2019 politics? In the short life of politics that is like a couple generation (politicians wise)...

I'm surprised you didn't use something more recent than 37 years ago to make a better comparison.

@Viper 37 years ago he was proudly standing beside someone in klan garb. Sorry but 37 years ago the klan was known to be racist.

@Viper Nice try, but no. It's the SJWs who dug up the 1982 behavior and are currently using it to try to force his resignation. They're the one comparing, this is a response to them.

@hippyjoe1955@Sicarium

I think you both thought I was trying to do a political move, I wasn't... wasn't a try and nothing to be sorry about.

@hippyjoe1955
Sorry I didn't know what happened 37 year ago, but doesn't that make this comparison worse? I think the Virginian Governor would of been the better comparison if that's what happened, as he admitted to either being in or next to a person in Klan outfit.

@Sicarium
Sorry I thot the author was bringing up the comparison, but still for whomever did, I question the comparison in years... and now subject matter if it was standing next to klan garb as that sounds better compared to the Virginian Governor.
hippyjoe1955 · 61-69, M
@Viper The now governor was the guy in black face. There are other pictures of him without black face but wearing the same pants. No one else in the world would have had that bad a taste in clothes as to wear those plaid pants.
Sicarium · 46-50, M
@Viper Yeah, you did.
That being said you're trying comparing
It's gaslighting 101. Pretend like the people criticizing the behavior are the ones who started the behavior. Rookie move.

@MyParentsAreProud I didn't realize both reaction we're current, you are correct and I am mistaken, thanks for explaining.

I got caught off guard by a 1982 event with a current reaction... that just seems odd, at least out of context which it was for me.
Viper · M
@hippyjoe1955 Yes but in was in blackface standing next to a person in Klan gear in the book I believe.

@Sicarium Completely wrong, as you're wrongly assuming I knew all the iinformation that you do on this subject and that I did that on purpose...

When the reality is I honestly didn't know that as @MyParentsAreProud explained to me that this is a current reaction to the 1982 story which makes my first post completely wrong. (Edit: Except the part about not liking the double standards that both parties use)
hippyjoe1955 · 61-69, M
@Viper Which meant he had no trouble with the klan. Does not speak well of his judgement.
