All the racist I knew and saw as a kid were Democrats. Mean spirited bastards. I don't think much has changed since.

Those 90% taxes were only paid by the super rich, and it was to pay for WW2. It was a big war tat was super expensive. But those high taxes also what slowed the post war recovery. Thankfully someone figured that out.

And thankfully Eisenhower kicked the racist bastards in the ass and put better people on the Supreme Court. One thing I really liked about Eisenhower was his colorblind view of equality. It was about everyone being equal and not about being anti-white.

I witnessed lots of that racism as a kid. My thoughts then were much like my thoughts now. Why doesn't everyone get treated as well as I'm treated? It was never about me having too much freedom or opportunity and therefore should surrender it to someone else. Injustice isn't corrected by treating more people unjustly.

@toodlepip Haaa .... I once thought those Shriners hats were funny and ridiculous. Than I heard about the Shriners hospitals and all they do for burn victims and children.

Their chaperone stated that the black students taunted them first (possibly because of the hats). But the other report was that kids from that same school were recently criticized for showing up at a local sports event in [b]blackface[/b].
