How about we make a deal with Mexico about these immigrant families?

Set up safe zones for housing immigration candidates. Pay them for shovel-ready jobs with contractors building infrastructure in the border zone while letting them and their families live in US secured safe zones along the border regions. A family fleeing violence or poverty in this way can wait in a nice safe border village with plenty of food while waiting for their immigration claims to process.

A win for capitalism, national sovereignty, and humanitarian ethics all in one.

I like the thinking but wonder if they wouldn’t be over run in days and where do these “shovel ready jobs” come from.

@Wiiiiiiiiii Yeah, it would probably take more than this to deal with it completely, but keep in mind all the hype about the caravan is an overstatement. In the 90s, there used to be 4000 interceptions at the border, a DAY. A caravan of 4000 to 7000 coming once in a year isn't much when you think about the old daily numbers.

Over time, the safe zones would fill up, and there would need to be alternative ways to manage the rest of the flow, but I think this would be a good part of a total solution.

@Xuan12 but if we have that type of program in place I would worry that it would truly open the floodgates and people would come from all over Mexico and Central America and we would be back in the same predicament.

@Wiiiiiiiiii another point. People might come just to live in the camps. Still though, the US government is super busy not doing anything about it. At this rate any idea is a step ahead of no idea.
Great ideas, but those ideas don't work for our negotiator in chief's objectives.
excellent suggestions.

We kill every Mexican president that doesn't get rid of the cartels in their term
