I hate politics but would someone explain this to me please?

Trump had two years with a Republican majority in both the House and Senate to get the wall funded as part of his 100 day plan. So why is the GOP blaming Democrats? Trump said on TV to the speaker and minority speaker he would be happy to shut down government and that he wouldn't blame them. What happened?
Trump is lying again. And passing the buck, like he usually does. And the GOP is happy to let him. Because remember, Trump also said that it was the president’s responsibility to negotiate and only a “weak” leader would let the government shut down. Of course, he wasn’t president when he said that.

@bijouxbroussard He also said "anybody being investigated by the FBI, is unfit to be President " 🤷‍♀️
@Harriet03 Fit or unfit ? Yes, so if he were a man of his word (which we know he’s not), he’d resign.

To put it another way, the idea of the wall is more important than the wall. As a barrier it would never be very useful. As a symbol it's everything to his legacy and re election chances.

Why is he blaming the Democrats? Have you ever heard him take responsibility for one of his disasters? He's a con man. And a liar. You don't have to think too deeply about his actions.
RodionRomanovitch · 56-60, M
The GOP was more interested in tax cuts and trying to repeal Obamacare and few of them actually supported his stupid idea for a wall. The only reason they are falling in line now is out of fear of their own supporters.
whowasthatmaskedman · 70-79, M
Its not about the wall at all. Trump can see he is losing his grip on power (look at the mid term results) and feels threatened on all sides, with investigations into his business, , his family and a number of people being convicted.and a lot more in the pipeline. So he is picking up the theme that worked so well for him with his supporters in the election. To build a Wall. But of course, this time he cant say that Mexico with pay. So he has to "bet the farm" that shutting the government will give him the victory he needs.

He is a filthy liar.

When you come to the realization that this isn't about democrats verse republicans, you take the first step out of the illusion chamber. We have had 30 years of presidents and many in congress who have sold out America to leftist globalist technocrats, vile people who have ushered in a police state thugocracy creating a dystopian society of willfully ignorant drones. Drones who have willfully given up their personal liberty in return for the convenience of staring at screens.

Wake up, your very survival and freedom is at stake. Trump is doing things the globalist enslavers hate. France is boiling over, Brazil has turned, the world is fighting back. Yet we still have many useful idiots fighting the guy /Trump who has light the match for real change.

Don't get it twisted.

Trump, "The Great Negotiator", never had the votes to pass the wall.

NEVER

Now that the Democrats hold the majority in The House Trump is attempting to blame them for his lack of leadership during the last two years.

Trump shut down the government because talk show hosts (Limbaugh and Coulter) publicly berated him for not keeping his ridiculous "wall" promise. Trump is fearful that he is not going to be re-elected in 2020 based on none of his t-shirts slogans coming to fruition.

Next year, reelection year, is the danger zone. There's nothing like a good old manufactured crisis to aid reelection... 😕
CountScrofula · 41-45, M
It's in his political interests to manufacture a crisis so he can mobilize his base.
To be really succinct, its not really about the wall for either side.

He's just enjoying his time at the WH.

Poo rolls down hill? 💩
That’s a good point 😆 my tin foil hat says it’s so he can use it as his main point against the democrats in 2020 but I doubt that’d be the real main reason, even for trump
RodionRomanovitch · 56-60, M
@AndrewtheAlu Then you might be surprised , what else is he going to rile his racist base with if not the threat from immigration ?
@RodionRomanovitch he’d be able to talk about immigration anyway though, he can just point at Muslims or some other imaginary problem. Even he can’t claim that the wall would stop them coming
