Another Republican Runs for the Hills

Tennessee's Lamar Alexander won't run for re-election in 2020.

Kind of sad, actually.

Now instead of having two reasonable conservatives in the Senate (Alexander and Bob Corker) who aren't afraid of being critical of Trump (publicly or privately) and working with Democrats on occasion, that state instead will have two VERY conservative firebrands (Marsha Blackburn and perhaps Stephen Fincher).

As a Nashville, TN native who’s always been interested in politics (have politically active GOP donor/advocate parents) I grew up having Lamar Alexander as well as Phil Bredesen holding office.
These men, along with Bob Corker and Bill Frist were all a good credit to the state and their party.
Did I agree with their politics or party? No. Rarely ever. But I held them in esteem as I truly felt they were honorable men who had a belief in their ability to lead and govern my home state. I feel they were a credit to TN on the whole.
Marsha Blackburn is not. She’s a shill for Trump. Before Trump, she was a tea party bobble head in a skirt. She’s in no way close to the caliber of the above named. In fact, she’s so far right she’s managed to make my parents cringe.
These “Trump” republicans sure aren’t the Republicans of my younger days. Shame
