United Kingdom Spent £1.2 Billion (today's currency) During the War of 1812. Maybe They Should Have Bought Up the Equivalent of Facebook Ads Instead?

The United Kingdom spend about £1.2 billion (in today's currency) and lost nearly 9,000 men (including Canadian forces) to battle deaths and disease during the War of 1812.

Maybe they should have just bought Facebook ads instead?

In otherwords, gotten Tory loyalists to buy up major U.S. newspapers in order to control their content (FOX News), planted fake letters to the editor supporting the British position on trade (Russian bots), bought off a few Congressmen to introduce legislation for formal naturalization documents perhaps by having sexy female British agents whisper suggestions to them in the bedroom (Maria Butina), spread rumors that James Madison's mail was being copied and sent to foreign agents in France because it wasn't secured in a locked cabinet ("Lock Her Up")...

George IV could have been working behind the scenes to interfere in the 1812 election to defeat Madison. A switch of 10,000 votes in Pennsylvania would have flipped the state and the election to Clinton.

Of course then there might have been Congressional hearings in 1813, charges of collusion, treason, indictments against Clinton campaign aids on charges of violating the Logan Act, etc.

You know, just saying...

Actually, they weren't doing too good against Nappy at the time.
