Will western people blame immigrants...

For fleeing conditions created by the Western world? War or climate change etc. As natural resources dry up and the global south becomes less habitual then the refugee problem will only get worse. A lot worse.

Fund military conflict, leave farmland flooded or arid and then build a wall to keep people out... Because of personal responsibility.
They do. So many complain about refugees and asylum Seekers withput stopping to think past the warmth of their living room

This issue doesn't get enough attention. Hell, in the US we can't even get 40% of the population to agree that there is climate change, even when they see and experience it themselves, let along think of the global consequences of it. But parts of the Middle East and other areas will become essentially uninhabitable within 50 years, and there are likely to be mass migrations leading to conflict and war. We need to be planning ahead now to try to head off the worst of the problems.

To answer your question, without doubt westerners will blame refugees and immigrants from the south for creating their own problems.

Quick answer, yes.

Its not just western countries though, a few numbers to put things in perspective

Every 2 days a town the size of Burnley is displaced, 45,000 per day.

There are as many Tunisian refugees in Italy as people in Leeds, around 600,000

There are almost as many Rohinga refugees in Bangladesh as people in Birmingham, around 900,000

There are as many Tunisian refugees in Italy as people in Leeds, around 600,000.

1.4 million Syrian refufees in Jordan, similar to the population of Estonia.

2-4 million Venezuelan refugees in South America, roughly the same as the population of Wales.

An estimated 68 million refugees worldwide, about the population of the UK.

@Burnley123 @SW-User And let's not forget that the US took in 40 Syrian refugees last year. Not 40,000. Not 4,000. 40. And Trump complains the US is doing its part.

What will happen when there are hundreds of millions of displaced peoples worldwide? Who will step up to help?

@windinhishair I wish I knew,

@SW-User I do know that most people are inherently compassionate in most places around the world. There are so many examples of people stepping up during WWII during the worst times. I have faith that when the time comes, many will step up individually and collectively.

Probably so. Asking themselves why aren’t these immigrants fixing these problems in their country? Many immigrants do want to fix problems in their country, wether it be corruption, climate change, war, etc. sometimes to do that is to speak out about it and sometimes that can get one killed.

@SW-User Drug cartels that pay off politicians are no mach for a subsistence farmer!
SW-User
Trump does this currently, but he wouldn't know anything about colonialism and exploitation. He likes rich oligarchs who bribe him, and everyone else that has a complaint he dehumanizes as "losers."

As we know humans, and even homo erectus before them, MOVE. Over centuries they move tens of thousands of miles. It’s what they do. The difference is nation states with immigration policies, a relatively new phenomenon.

Man, I bet the US is feeling pretty embarrassed about murdering those nuns in El Salvador right about now.
Burnley123 · 41-45, M
@CountScrofula segway but yeah. I guess the point you are making is that nationalist Americans don't know or care about the impact of US foreign policy.
CountScrofula · 41-45, M
@Burnley123 Well a bit of a segway. The US created the political climate in El Salvador and Guatemala and now is -losing its shit- over the asylum seekers flooding in from those countries.
Burnley123 · 41-45, M
@CountScrofula I know about the 80s from reading Chomsky. Not as familiar with the recent history but I doubt much has changed.
kangaroos stop fucking in a drought.
Why do 3rd world countries keep breeding like rabbits?..
@Burnley123 It may be the only form of comfort they experience in their miserable lives.
Burnley123 · 41-45, M
@softspokenman Yeah I guess. As societies get richer, their birthrates go down.
OggggO · 36-40, M
@Burnley123 @softspokenman A lot of it has to do with when you are a subsistence farmer, you need as many farmhands as you can get. Especially when you don't know which ones are going to die before adulthood. High death rates necessitate high birth rates.
SW-User
of course they will, as surely as the sun comes up each morning
jackjjackson · 61-69, M
That is speculation as to what might happen in the next century.
