"Foundations of Geopolitics" by Alexander Dugin

Predicts the current state of global affairs with striking accuracy. Written 20 years ago. What's most intriguing about it...it was written as a guide for global manipulation and expansion by Russia. The book is course material at the General Staff Academy of the Russian Armed Forces.

It advocated removing the UK from the EU.

It advocated Russia make an alliance with Iran.

It advocated Russia pull Turkey away from Western influence.

It advocated Russia annex or dismember Georgia and the Ukraine.

It advocated fueling instability, sectarianism, and dissidence in the United States, and stoking as much anti-American sentiment around the globe as possible.

All of which happened. And, the stated goal of the entire affair is to form an anti-bourgeois, anti-American revolution" headed by Russia as the "Third Rome".

Oh, and of course, for anyone of such nature, it also encourages a continental Russian-Islamic alliance, based on the traditional character of both Russian and Islamic civilization. XD

Dugin is a hack, and the sort of stuff in the book that reads true is due to the whole broken clock principle - or simply what is accepted common sense (like yes, you should be destabilizing your enemies and their allies - why do you think we do it?). And most of his big suggestions and predictions turned out to be laughable.

He’s a master self-promoter, though. For example, everyone mentions that staff college thing - but when you look at it more closely it becomes obvious how silly it is to make a big deal out of it. He got a buddy to include it in a reading list, once - in a survey elective class (you don’t go to the staff college to study geopolitics). In the 90s. Before all his friends were discredited and drummed out.

Dude is far more influential with Western press than he is in Russia. Couldn’t even keep his professorship gig - got booted after talking some shit on Ukrainians.

@QuixoticSoul His idea of the pan Eurasian "Land Nation" is a bit far fetched, and may have had something to due with his fall from grace as well. Such an idea that requires Russia to share power with East Asians and Muslims is not likely to be received well.

@Xuan12 He never really had much grace. His highest accomplishment was some kind of minor part time advisory gig for a politician with a wholly domestic focus.

Dude is a nobody inside Russia, an unremarkable if kooky academic. But for the Western press he’s the next Rasputin. That stature is wholly manufactured out of thin air.

One of my favorite political authors. I agree very much on his Eurasian world vision, although it is not really original, Orwell's 1984 predates it.

@Cierzo Most people are confused about the term, yes. But it is more clear to some. Perhaps because it does not simply fall on the oversimplified capitalist-communist spectrum it illudes the general public.

@Cierzo Anyway, I actually meant of you. Are you a fascist?
Cierzo · M
@Xuan12 Define what you understand for fascist and then I will answer.
