why did obama receive the nobel peace prize?

https://www.nobelprize.org/prizes/peace/2009/press-release/

They don't talk about anything he's specifically done. I can't find anything that he's done online so here I am asking anyone who's reading, "How did obama 'strengthen international diplomacy and cooperation between peoples'? "

For the same reason he was elected, because he's black.

@PeculiarPea what you feel about the dna that you inherit from your parents does not change the dna that you inherit from your parents.

23 and me is a good website to see who all you're related to.
The Norwegian Nobel Committee has decided that the Nobel Peace Prize for 2009 is to be awarded to President Barack Obama for his extraordinary efforts to strengthen international diplomacy and cooperation between peoples. The Committee has attached special importance to Obama’s vision of and work for a world without nuclear weapons.

Obama has as President created a new climate in international politics. Multilateral diplomacy has regained a central position, with emphasis on the role that the United Nations and other international institutions can play. Dialogue and negotiations are preferred as instruments for resolving even the most difficult international conflicts. The vision of a world free from nuclear arms has powerfully stimulated disarmament and arms control negotiations. Thanks to Obama’s initiative, the USA is now playing a more constructive role in meeting the great climatic challenges the world is confronting. Democracy and human rights are to be strengthened.

Only very rarely has a person to the same extent as Obama captured the world’s attention and given its people hope for a better future. His diplomacy is founded in the concept that those who are to lead the world must do so on the basis of values and attitudes that are shared by the majority of the world’s population.

For 108 years, the Norwegian Nobel Committee has sought to stimulate precisely that international policy and those attitudes for which Obama is now the world’s leading spokesman. The Committee endorses Obama’s appeal that “Now is the time for all of us to take our share of responsibility for a global response to global challenges.”

Trump has already undone most of this.

Oh, wait, you already posted the link.

@gregloa I agree. I was discussing about sanctions on Iran and he gives me a history lesson on the middle east.
Northwest · M
@gregloa So, then you have nothing as a response. Predictable.

It's not that difficult to school you about the Middle East.

Probably to give bigots something to bitch and moan about for eternity. The Nobel Committee is the ultimate troll organization, designed specifically to mock conservatives.

Mostly because he wasn't Bush. Most Americans don't realise how disliked Bush was internationally.
Obama rowed back on things like Guantanamo Bay and actually understood America has responsibility on climate change.
Of course, in 2018 Bush doesn't look so bad all of a sudden.

@GunSmoke9 What you should learn, is that we're in the 21st century, and the Tower of London is no longer in existence. We can't detain people for no reason, oh and it's not a partisan issue, and that you're wrong, again.
GunSmoke9 · 56-60, M
@Northwest If they are caught on the battlefield they can be held. You need work on your sarcasm. I wasted enough time talking to you.
Northwest · M
@GunSmoke9 Cool. So, neither us, not the Vietnamese, should have released POWs. Sound thinking.
xixgun · M
He literally received it for "potential".
Even he was embarrassed to receive it.
GunSmoke9 · 56-60, M
He got the prize for what he might do, not for anything he did at the time he got it. Should we give the Boston Red Sox world series rings now, because it looks like they could be champs?
@GunSmoke9 Well, my point is a bit seasoned. I'd say, 'leave the poor guy alone and let him get on with his life', but he's still a Soros puppet and he's still campaigning, so he's fair game! Since Trump has been in office, the democrats have become less of a political party and more of a wacko fringe group like skin heads, or neo Nazi's, or 'flat earthers' , or 'The View', so I don't have many nice things to say about them
GunSmoke9 · 56-60, M
@puck61 I was hoping Obama would just go away, instead of pushing his bull campaigning for more of the loony left. The democrats have also gotten more dangerous.
@GunSmoke9 They are dangerous in that they can exploit a general sense of self loathing that an unnervingly large number of people feel. This new face of liberalism is nothing more than cuckoldry. They don't believe that they deserve for things to be good, so they are dead set on making things 'bad' for everyone.

maybe for not invading nine countries. He only invaded eight.

@redredred
maybe for not invading nine countries. He only invaded eight.
More obfuscating. Prove the claim you made, and stop the tap dancing.
redredred · M
I've covered that, you're just too dim to understand standard english. Ive raised three children and I understand how important it is to the childish to have the last word. Since there's clearly no point in discussing this further with you, you can have the last word.@Northwest

@redredred
I've covered that
In your own mind. History has it down differently. President Obama did not invade 8 countries.
you're just too dim to understand standard english
Says the guy who does not understand what invade means.
Ive raised three children and I understand how important it is to the childish to have the last word.
So far, you have not disappointed. Kudos. This is what happens in every discussion, where a Trump Head, who contributed the same number, or more, comments to a conversation, says "you want to have the last word". Irony is lost on them. Perhaps you should have learned something from your kids.
Since there's clearly no point in discussing this further with you, you can have the last word
See the above.

His six lottery numbers came up and that was the prize?
Jibby · 56-60, C
He was very articulate
Jibby · 56-60, C
@IAmMaster you said not even close. Anyone that knows basic sarcastic humor would have got the same impression from my answer
IAmMaster · 31-35, M
@Jibby he was very articulate most of the time so there was not irony in your sarcasm. I'll go ahead and stop replying here because you've stopped using terms correctly and mixed in petty insults for no reason. Two indications that you're of lower intelligent.
Jibby · 56-60, C
@IAmMaster anybody with a sense of humor would have got that joke you are a total fucking idiot..
He was almost good at kissing ass!
hippyjoe1955 · 61-69, M
He got elected.
Abbenthewarwolf · 18-21, M
SHUT UP Racist Nazi
