Did Senator Feinstein have a public duty to send the President a copy of the letter received in July?

Suggested answer: YES
KaTeeEvent · 36-40, F
Consider, perhaps, those conditions set forth by the all male Senate Committee. Perhaps she feltt intimidated that it would only be she and the person she is accusing in the same room together answering questions from politicians with a very unhidden political agenda. She gets to set the conditions when it comes to her own comfort and most important safe zone.
jackjjackson · 61-69, M
I haven’t heard a legitimate reason to bar Judge Kavanaughfrom the room. Do you have one or is it simply that you support whatever Dr Ford demands? @KaTeeEvent
KaTeeEvent · 36-40, F
Perhaps the exact question should be posed to her and not the outside pundits including you and me. Let her explain if it’s ok if she testifies in the same room one after the other and let’s let her give reasons if not. I’m open minded on the subject but think I may be a little more sensitive to what she is going through.
jackjjackson · 61-69, M
Good point. We (the public) have not heard from Dr Ford yet. We’ve heard from politicians, journalists, lawyers, etc. We have not seen the letter. All unknown for now. @KaTeeEvent
beckyromero · 36-40, F
DiFi doesn't have a "duty" to send the President a birthday card.

Trump and his staff simply don't know how to properly vet anyone.
jackjjackson · 61-69, M
The FBI has said it hypothetically would be a waste of their time based on what she has said. They can’t evaluate her statements. There were three people allegedly involved on somedate and place she says she does not know. That doesn’t mean it didn’t happen. She testifies and she said she wanted to and the American public hears her story, the questions and answers and anything else presented. Where is the problem. @KaTeeEvent
KaTeeEvent · 36-40, F
None at all. I think she should testify, give her version of the events and I’m sure it will be cathartic for her and the rest of the nation. I believe though she has gone through a numbing event if all is true that is especially significant to all women, hence getting to the truth at all costs. I’m not downplaying a man’s feelings on the issue at all but understand there’s something in it that I believe effects a woman differently.
jackjjackson · 61-69, M
Well stated. She testifies on Monday is respectfully treated. That’s what she said she wanted to do. @KaTeeEvent

Yes.

And this exposes Senator Feinstein as a dishonorable person.

She should have also shared this information with all members of the committee and directly questioned judge Kavanaugh about it.

Apparently, Senator Feinstein's priority is to advance the power of Democrats and diminish the power of non-Democrats.

Feinstein took an oath to defend the constitution. Her deceptive handling shows that she tried to circumvent due deliberation by the senate. She should be impeached.
Heartlander · 80-89, M
@akindheart Now they are calling for an FBI investigation :)

So where would such an investigation start:

Where did Christine get the alcohol that made her drunk that night?
Were others also drunk?
Who was the adult that allowed their house to be used for a drunken teen bash?
If there was alcohol, were there also illegal drugs?
Did Christine also use illegal drugs?
Did her friends? If so, who?
And where did they get those drugs?
Did Christine attend other such parties as a teen?
If so, where? and who supplied the alcohol and drugs?
Was Christine assaulted at other parties?
Did Christine engage in consensual sex at any of those parties?
If so, with whom?
Who else was at those parties?
At these "rich kids" parties in the DC area, were teen kids of members of congress there?
If so, who were they? .....
jackjjackson · 61-69, M
Feinstein is very likely to lose in November. @Heartlander
jackjjackson · 61-69, M
Nothing to investigation when she doesn’t know when and where. Let her testify be questioned and experts then evaluate. @Heartlander
akindheart · 61-69, F
yes she did AND she didn't ask Kavanaugh after interviewing him many times. speaks volumes. an SW friend suggests this woman is a liberal too? hmmm
jackjjackson · 61-69, M
Good point. Why not ask Kavanaugh about it when they met face to face? That would have been transparent and honest and certainly not 11th hour dramatics. @akindheart
I'm really not sure on this one, tbh.

Leaving aside the issue of respecting confidentiality this guy is already on the bench, so whether Trump pulls his nomination or not, it seems like if it's relevant to the Supreme Court, it would still be relevant to the district Court.

If she should have reported it, it seems like she ought to have reported it to someone other than POTUS, or at least in addition to him.
JoeyFoxx · 51-55, M
I don’t trust any of them. We are all being collectively manipulated with the media being used as a weapon.

I’m convinced the White House already knew about his history before the nomination. It’s a giant game of chicken.

Diane is one of the worst of the entrenched boorish Democrats. I trust her as far as I can throw her old fat ass.

But, this process... it lacks candor and lacks honor.
JoeyFoxx · 51-55, M
And as I have implied here, that’s not the simplest question to answer.

It’s a dirty game and the WH misuses facts regularly.

Most people agree that telling the truth is preferred. But most will also agree that lying to a killer tomsave one’s own life is also preferred.

So, I would prefer that our “leaders” don’t manipulate the process.

But Trump has established a brand new pattern of being disingenuous.

Who’s to say how people should behave with the new normal?

Trump wants to do away with old school politics.

Fine. Be careful what you wish for

jackjjackson · 61-69, M
We previously agreed that neither side has the high ground lets leave it at that @JoeyFoxx
jackjjackson · 61-69, M
Re Justice Thomas that’s beyond the scope of this appointment. However the Senate has the power to investigate and possibly impeach him. Like the Kavanaugh case, the more that is in the public domain for the decision makers to act on the better. @KaTeeEvent
KaTeeEvent · 36-40, F
Isn’t the real question though, whether Feinstein was right or wrong, to determine if the charges have any validity? Let’s assume not but in the interests of appointing the best person possible let the accuser face committe questioning or further pointed fbi investigation. Agree?
jackjjackson · 61-69, M
Agreed@KaTeeEvent
jackjjackson · 61-69, M
Of course the other sides stoops to it because they did. You are entitled to your opinion about what you think the WH knew but no one but them knows what they knew. Politics on both sides stinks. No side has the high ground. @JoeyFoxx
JoeyFoxx · 51-55, M
@jackjjackson
No side has the high ground.
We agree there
RodionRomanovitch · 56-60, M
So he could have a whole three months to set his attack dogs on her ?
jackjjackson · 61-69, M
Oh please. The Dems have had plenty of time to investigate while not disclosing the letter. @RodionRomanovitch
RodionRomanovitch · 56-60, M
@jackjjackson They've had no time , only Feinstein had it.
jackjjackson · 61-69, M
Sure. Even Feinstein didn’t say that. @RodionRomanovitch
BowTied · 51-55, M
Yes. Actually, she has a duty to pitch herself off the pinnacle of the Transamerica Tower.
jackjjackson · 61-69, M
She began failing that duty about 25 years ago. @BowTied
QuixoticSoul · 41-45, M
Don’t see any specific reason for that action. What would be the point?
QuixoticSoul · 41-45, M
@jackjjackson Politics these days is all about underhanded obstructionism at all costs and taking advantage of the rules. Sportsmanship went out of the window fairly early into the Obama administration.

I don’t like this state of events, or these tactics. All of this rubs th the wrong way, tbh, this #metoo ambush included. But this is the way the game is played now and we all have to live with it.
jackjjackson · 61-69, M
That’s a fair analysis. I agree. @QuixoticSoul

Oh boy Feinstein got a letter !! yay let's all celebrate/
@MarmeeMarch The bitch could sent a nude picture to him and i would not even bat an eye.
jackjjackson · 61-69, M
I’m not so sure I would agree with that. That might persuade me. @MarmeeMarch
xixgun · M
If it wasn't important enough to bring up before now, then it still isn't.
jackjjackson · 61-69, M
I disagree. If the facts established attempted rape he is disqualified in my opinion. @xixgun
polyandrym66 · 70-79, M
It's kind of like gossiping - senate version...

Oh? The topic is Feinstein and your friend attempted to expand it. I gave her the courtesy of some responses. She chose to attempt to hijack the topic of the thread and was also insulting. You and I have no problem unless you are choosing to create one. @JoeyFoxx

And it was you my friend that took this comment off topic.

So, who’s the troll here?
No offense but I still don’t interpret that as kind true or necessary and you attempted to move things “into the mud”. I pointed out that until then you and I were doing well and if you ask me that you steering into trouble and I reminded you that we had none and asked if you really wanted trouble. I don’t. Let’s drop it and move on. Have a nice day.

They SAID they wanted to discuss it and then when given the opportunity moved the goalpost and demanded conditions. Whose to say if their demands are met they won’t move the goalpost yet again?@SW-User
