I will be voting this November

I voted in the primary but this will be my first general election since I wasn't old enough to vote in 2016. My state is divided evenly between Democrats and Republicans, but 10 out of our 13 congressmen are Republicans because they drew the district boundaries to ensure that. There is currently a court case which could change this.

I don't care what party you are but the system should be fair and not give either side an advantage.

You better believe I'll be voting.

If you want a less polarized politics and are tired of extremes then vote because I'm a far leftist and believe me I have much more motivation to vote than fucking centerist and moderates.

see you at the polls bitches. =)

Yes. One who lives in a multi racial, multi cultural tolerant society where we have a few problems, but don't deal with them by building a wall and keeping others "in their place". Your country is founded on migrants. Now it has other internal problems and your politicians point at the migrants taking a few jobs you don't want in a time when your Unemployment is actually TOO low and tell you to "look over there" and the stupid and ignorant do it. Go watch Penn and Teller.. They will explain it all to you..@DesertGhost
@whowasthatmaskedman Yep illegals are being scapegoated by politicians who are essentially appealing to phony populism against the Globalist because much of the country blames illegals for "TAKING OUR JORBS"

and shilling against illegal immigration is a great way to get stupid gullible voters (who don't bother to read or even do any research to find most of the jobs were lost to robots for instance) to vote for you.

You know, I realize how deeply our country is divided, and I abhore some of the violence and dishonesty, dirty tricks, craziness and hysteria I see right now, but I am always grateful when I see people like you involve themselves, whether you are right or left, because that is what our country is all about.

I say this because I remember all too well the deep apathy which used to govern us. People lived in a gray world with almost no hope of changing the future. They stayed home, watched television and drank beer. They decided to live on welfare, or low wages, and no one had any hope of acheiving the "American Dream". I used to wonder what on earth would need to happen to wake people up so that they would CARE again. And now they do.

I pray that everyone cares about our country, and I pray that everyone is able to put hysteria down like a crack pipe and get on some kind of political rehab. Think, most of all. Think for yourself, instead of repeating what you have heard other people say. BE your OWN thoughts, not phrases someone repeats to you on the television or the web. THINK deeply.

Do NOT fall into the pit of believing that everyone on the other side is evil. I see that far too often. People are allowed to disagree with you in this country, and that is what makes us the United Freaking States of America, and better and stronger than everyone else. Do NOT namecall because you are NOT five years old.
Search for the dream the best way you know how...and THINK!!!

PS, Thank you for caring, and thank you for trying to be a caregiver for democracy, the republic, and the constitution.

@4meAndyou I think Donald Trump has awakened a lot of people my age and has shown us that elections do matter and it makes a difference who is in power. But the polarization isn't going away anytime soon. A lot of people are just going to be voting against Trump this November.

@Lila15 Yes, I know. Even if we lose, we will suck it up (no screaming and hysteria) and keep trying to make things better for everyone, instead of recreating welfare states.
Graylight · 51-55, F
It's great you get to exercise your right for the first time. Unfortunately, we're at a low point in politics but that'll shift back. Voting matters. Voting works and it changes things. Just don't forget...The presidential elections are simply the last stop in the voting process. True change comes in helping determine who goes to Washington all along the way. Without a decent Senate and House, the president is fairly useless.

See you at the polls.

And remember. Even if you cant find something to vote for, you can always find an issue to vote against. Don't waste it.@Graylight
Lila15 · 22-25, F
@Graylight Well, the President and Congress have all been the same party for almost two years, and it's not like they've accomplished anything, so I think we need a change.
sunsporter1649 · 70-79, M
Could it be that the people of North Carolina are turned off to the message that the democrat party is advocating, and want no part of implementing those policies?
Lila15 · 22-25, F
@sunsporter1649 Actually, I imagine how it would be if the Republican gerrymandered district lines were redrawn by a nonpartisan commission, and if the Republicans weren't allowed to suppress votes anymore. It's not fair that North Carolina is split almost evenly between Democrats and Republicans, but because of those unfair tactics, Republicans have all the power.

If it was reversed you'd be pretty upset.
sunsporter1649 · 70-79, M
@Lila15 LOL, for 40 years when the districts were slanted the other way you were fine with it. Wonder what has changed your mind.
Lila15 · 22-25, F
@sunsporter1649 I don't think they should be slanted in favor of either party. Do you? You're OK with cheating as long as it's your side doing it? This is what's wrong with America, too many people put their own party above the entire country.

Good on you for voting!
Remember, you can always call your representative and complain - numerous times.
