Anyone else not impressed with Australian politics?

With yet another farcical situation occurring in Australian politics, people around the world must look at Australia and wonder what on earth our politicians are doing! There seems to be a leadership spill way too often!
As an Aussie I can say what's happening with our governmnet now and has happened on three other occasions in the last 10 years (on both sides of politics) is disgusting.

Over here the entire electorate is absolutely furious, irrespective of political values.
It is a certainty that we will vote the incumbents out at the next election which will have to be called early next year.

Labour will get in with a resounding majority, meaning they will have the freedom to get all their policies enacted unopposed.

This should act as an excellent lesson to the Liberals (conservatives) about the cost of not mending differences and uniting behind their leader.

However, the differences are so strong that they may possibly split into two separate parties. No one has publicly mentioned that possibility yet. If it happens, their chances of forming a government at any time in the future may become remote.

I agree with everything you’ve said! I wonder if people will vote for the likes of one nation? Because let’s not forget the whole Rudd-Gillard fiasco the Labor lot went through!!its such a risk when politicians act so amateurish -they should have far stricter rules on leadership challenges.@hartfire

More disgraceful Politicians going for the power play.
Julie Bishop may sneak in.
Never ending merry go round. Sick of the lot of them.
I hadn't noticed what with Britain self-destructing and the USA destroying the planet...
Chrisy1 · 18-21, F
Very good point! Australia is very insignificant compared to those two!! Brexit is approaching ridiculous now.@NuclearSub

People look at Australia? I kind of forget it exists at times.

Sorry, I'm too American.

I have heard bad things about Australian politics, though.
Amylynne · 26-30, F
@GeistInTheMachine try cooper and son's ale
i like the wine from there as well. Yellow tale is a great value
GeistInTheMachine · 31-35, M
@Amylynne I think I recall having Yellow Tale a couple times.

I don't really drink much anymore these days, though.
JimboUk · 31-35, M
@GeistInTheMachine oh Fosters is more then decent.
Amylynne · 26-30, F
i have recently become interested In Australian politics, would you elaborate on what you see is happening?
Amylynne · 26-30, F
@ozgirl512 BrechT i love that work,,
and yes, it sound more and more relevant to our times
ozgirl512 · 26-30, F
@Amylynne I just looked up the quote...

If we could learn to look instead of gawking,
We'd see the horror in the heart of farce,
If only we could act instead of talking,
We wouldn't always end up on our arse.
This was the thing that nearly had us mastered;
Don't yet rejoice in his defeat, you men!
Although the world stood up and stopped the bastard,
The bitch that bore him is in heat again.”

And I agree,
ozgirl512 · 26-30, F
@Chrisy1 no.. But unfortunately with some you will never change their mind..Dunning Kreuger!
ozgirl512 · 26-30, F
It's in the quagmire... Hopefully come may it will get sorted somewhat and the drongos will leave the circus tent ...
Shutterbug · 56-60, M
I got the feeling there might be an election going on.,... with all the people by the roadside holding placards..... 😂😂
JimboUk · 31-35, M
Did something happen? 😃
Chrisy1 · 18-21, F
Oh just the usual change of prime minister ever 6 months, you get 2 mp’s that don’t like the pm, they have a leadership spill and get a new one lol@JimboUk
JimboUk · 31-35, M
@Chrisy1 politics is a dirty game, full of smiling faces telling you nothing but lies. A constant change of leadership normally means the party is fighting over which direction to go in.
Chrisy1 · 18-21, F
Very true! @JimboUk
Shutterbug · 56-60, M
What you might find is that it's a lot worse around the world.
Chrisy1 · 18-21, F
Yes but within the rhelms of America’s democratic system. @GeistInTheMachine
GeistInTheMachine · 31-35, M
@Chrisy1 A hell of a system it is.

Truly unique.
Chrisy1 · 18-21, F
Something to do with proportional representation- so one state isn’t constantly choosing the president!
Half the problem is that people who don’t support trump don’t make good arguments against him which makes other people support him all the more!! Hence extremes on both sides and someone else’s excellent reference to ‘1930’s’!!@GeistInTheMachine

No one is going to wonder what on earth Australia is doing as long as we're all wondering how a Cheeto got elected across the globe.
jennypenny · 70-79, F
Heard about it from a guy who was at school with your president!
april50 · F
Ah! if only we did have a President. In fact we are a constitutional monarchy, and our Head of State is the Queen of Australia, Queen Elizabeth II. The fact she resides in the UK, and is too elderly to travel, does complicate the matter somewhat. Technically she appoints a Governor General to act on her behalf. At least, since 7 May 1965, this has been an Australian. Up till then it was a cavalcade of Britain's brightest and best, the last being the amazing William Philip Sidney, Viscount De L'Isle and Dudley, VC, KG, GCMG, GCVO, KStJ, PC of Penshurt Place, Kent. You can't get much more noble, brave, aristocratic and unAustralian than that.

There was a referendum on becoming a Republic with a President as head of state in 1999, but 55% of Australians voted against it. So it remains Gawd bless 'er majesty.

Nah, come to expect the kids to squabble... They all want to wear the crown
Allelse · 36-40, M
Hahahaha! Nah. The Yanks are stealing all the attention at the moment.
Khenpal1 · M
kind of the same thing all over the world , politicians are of low morals in general.
No not really impressed with senator Fraser Anning or the One Nation crew. Can't say I am.
ozgirl512 · 26-30, F
It's my turn to sit at the head of the table!
A big bit childish!
Goralski · 51-55, M
What are they doin😕
Chrisy1 · 18-21, F
Oh just various politicians in the same party repeatedly stabbing each other in the back to try to gain themselves more power! People vote someone in via a general election and you can guarantee they won’t be there in about 2 years time, instead some unelected person will have taken over instead!!@Goralski
Goralski · 51-55, M
@Chrisy1 oh...I thought something more serious like people buying more Kawasaki's than KTM s
Chrisy1 · 18-21, F
Rippie · 31-35, M
