Whats the ratio of innocent people killed by guns/people (criminals)killed in legitimate self defence with guns?

reports, data, statistics, etc. are so widely varying and biased area to area, that it's hard to nail down exact figures.

but according to government/law enforcement census data; 80%+/- of all crime is committed by people in illegal possession of a firearm. "good" shootings vs homicides is low simply due to the number of crimes committed against unarmed victims. But statistically speaking, someone with a legally owned firearm is more likely to commit suicide with a firearm than be murdered by a criminal with a firearm.

Of course, that data can be interpreted in many difference ways. But suffice it to say, "gun control" doesn't work.

In actuality, civilian owned so called "assault rifles" account for less than 1% of gun related crime/deaths.

I don't know the ratio, but people still get charged in my country for self-defense.

There was one woman and man who plotted to kill the stepfather who raped her for 12 years. She stabbed him in the heart and both got premediated murder.
1. Kim Bo-eun: 3 years in prison. (Note: She received probation.)

2. Kim Jin-gwan: 5 years in prison. (Note: He actually ended up serving about half of the sentence.)
In the Court’s view, the infringement was indeed “impending,” but the method used (i.e., stabbing to death) was seen as excessive. It, therefore, lacked “reasonable grounds.” The Court felt there were less extreme methods available (for the defendants) to extricate themselves from the situation. Bottom line: Was it necessary to kill the stepfather in such a manner?

I don't know I'm not a american which is largely where the issue (or not issue depending on views) is.

From the outside I don't see why better gun control and laws would be a bad thing. And criminals been killed by them does not really justify it been cool tbh.

This should give you a broad picture. Fact is, a person is eight times more likely to be killed with his/her own firearm than to use it against someone else in self-defense.

Interestingly, the NRA - when it's not trying to sell membership and merchandise - offers [i]no[/i] gun statistics. They either choose to leave that to other organizations or don't want them advertised. But you decide.

You won't be able to do it.

The data doesn't exist in a format you want. Even if you found the data, I wouldn't trust it because all states/agencies wouldn't collect it the same.

You're going to have trouble with this. Remember the shootouts in the old Westerns? At least some of the time it was bad guys shooting at other bad guys - it's the same today. Not always, but sometimes.

You won't hear about the successful use of firearms incidents because no one was hurt!
