Trump is in London and there is a yuuuge demonstration planned for tomorrow.

Do any of my fellow Brits like Donald Trump? How do Americans feel about the demo?
SW-User Best Comment
I hope the balloon attacks him and wrestles him to the ground.

@SW-User Ghost busters marshmallowman style. 😜

@Burnley123 Thanks for the BA!
@SW-User I love it ! 😆

Primnproper · 56-60, F
There's a demonstration going on where he's having dinner tonight..did you see him getting off his plane, that pout makes me want to slap his face or give him a lemon to suck!😂
SmartKat · 56-60, F
I’m American, and I *love* that the Brits are demonstrating against *45. After you’re finished with the balloon, can we borrow it to use in NY and DC?
thatscottishguy · 26-30, M
Just wait till he comes up here. People are still angry he banned irn bru at his golf course.
RodionRomanovitch · 56-60, M
" The Brits really like me." - Trump , today.

" I don't think he realises just how despised he is here." - Alistair Campbell , today.
SW-User
You know many Americans are against him too, myself included.
@Mamapolo2016 Okay, but the 13 Russian nationals that were indicted for hacking the system will always place an * on those results. Like it or not.
Northwest · M
@Mamapolo2016 What's President Obama got to do with this conversation.

Trump's approval rating, for the most recent week (July 2-8), is 41%. This is not the majority of the people.

Coincidentally, President's Obama's approval rating, during his last week in office was 59%, with 37% disapproving, and 4% having no opinion.

As to the negative press 🤣🤣

It appears you never watched Fox News, Breitbart, and the entire alt-right, tea party, Facebook (brought to you by Russia), InfoWars, etc., and still a 59% approval ratings, but I guess negative press only works magically, when Trump is in office.
@bijouxbroussard I don't care much one way or the other about asterisks. I don't care much about President Trump. I don't care at all about clever debate. I'm old enough that none of this will affect me much longer one way or the other. It would be nice to live out my life in a country where we are all Americans. Doesn't look like that's doable, though.
SW-User
I'm no fan of his but I'm a bit embarrassed of the uproar caused by his visit. We've had some awful people visit this country of ours with very little fuss made. If we are doing this for Trump we should have done the same for others. He won't give two hoots either. We need people to intelligently debate him and his followers not make a circus out of it.
Picklebobble2 · 56-60, M
@bijouxbroussard This is true ! ...... This may need more thought !
@Picklebobble2 These were some of the "violent, vicious protestors" here that Breitbart reported about after Trump was elected...

Picklebobble2 · 56-60, M
@bijouxbroussard Hmmm! Clearly hardened criminals ! Lol.

I wonder if there's some sort of 'panic' going on with those in charge wondering where this giant orange blimp is ?
SW-User
Don't forget about his own hometown NYC, he's very hated in his own home state and city.
CountScrofula · 41-45, M
One thing that's been brought up a lot is paid protestors.

If anyone can explain to me how to get paid by George Soros to attend a protest, please PM me because that'll really help cover travel expenses and I can probably make more protests that way. Maybe there's an app or something.
wildbill83 · 36-40, M
Given UK politics, I find it amusing that they're so intent on mocking ours...

First you ban guns, now it's knives... what's next? scissors and pencils? At the current rate, the UK will look like a scene from Braveheart... people running amok, clubbing and throwing spears at each other...
wildbill83 · 36-40, M
currently, there are more stabbings in London than shootings in NY...
romper69 · 51-55, M
@wildbill83 How many stabbings in New York?
romper69 · 51-55, M
@redredred London had 1 more murder in Feb & March than NY did. NY is ahead for the year so far, and had way more murders than London last year
BitterSweetPotato · 31-35, F
I know one Brit cat that sincerely hates him O.o
Burnley123 · 41-45, M
@BitterSweetPotato I know lots of them O.o
redredred · M
Knock yourself out. However, shouldn't it bother you more that your "betters" are stalling on the brexit you voted for?
Burnley123 · 41-45, M
@redredred I don't like the EU but Brexit is worse.
Picklebobble2 · 56-60, M
@Burnley123 as are our 'supposed' betters.
romper69 · 51-55, M
@redredred A fair vote yes. But sadly no one was actually told what they were voting for when they wanted out. A vote to stay was easy...the status quo remains. The vote to leave wasn't. Pro-Brexit voters voted for many different reason...not for all the same thing. There was no plan if there was a vote to leave. False promises (and proven lies) were made by the leave campaign, by people that actually in no position to keep them of follow them up. Many voted for one aspect, whether immigration, trade, human rights or even patriotism, but didn't consider how it would effect other aspects they approved of. It's not just a case of keeping pro-Brexit voters happy...there are the various factions within them to consider as well.
Basically David Cameron run the vote as a sort of vote of confidence in him, and a way to keep his opponents quiet....he underestimated the vote, got cocky and lost.
SexyFunGuy1981 · 41-45, M
I do not like the Trump
I am not a fan of Trump - at all. But, as a British citizen, don't you find it a bit odd that the BBC has SOOO many documentaries disparaging Trump on a weekly basis? It's a government run channel, right?
@CopperCicada

The state dinner at Blenheim Palace looks like a "love fest"?

That's ALL Trump cares about.
romper69 · 51-55, M
@lilteacup BBC i-player is like the BBC version of Netflix...basically everything broadcast over the last few years is available

1. Panorama Trump's Fortress America - broadcast 17 Jul 2017
2. Trump's Unlikely Fans - 3 Nov 2016
3. House of Common Trump Policing Urgent Question - 12 Jul 2018 part of a debate in Parliament
4. The Brit Who Tried to Kill Trump - 20 Jan 2017
5. HARDtalk Sebastian Gorka, Deputy Assistant to Trump - 1 Aug 2017 an interview on the news channel
6. Panorama Trump: is the President a Sex Pest? - 9 Jul 2018

Of all those only 1 programme and one news item broadcast in 2018
@romper69

The point I am trying to make is BBCiPlayer does not have ANY other programs, in such abundance, at the ready for viewing, relating to ANY other leader, of ANY other country, OTHER THAN TRUMP.

It doesn't matter when they were first viewed -- People can still watch ALL these shows at any time.

I know how BBCiPlayer works. I have been watching it since it became available.

There are more programs about Trump than Brexit.

Again, I did not vote for the man. Just stating an observation.

Obama was an arsehole coming here and saying we go to back of queue, lost all respect for him
Northwest · M
@Burnley123 May shut it off, finally.

I especially loved the Merkel Dead Cat, when it got too uncomfortable, and Trump cut in with "but what about Merkel....". He repeated his lie about "Germany getting 50%, 60%, and I heard maybe 70% of its energy needs from Russia", and the $B's going to Germany. May sort of nodded her head, and tried to steer the conversation away from Merkel.
lorne13 · 61-69, M
@Northwest trump is a professional moron, apparently nothing can be done about it
Burnley123 · 41-45, M
@Northwest I feel sorry for her even though I'm in the enemy tribe. 🤣
Picklebobble2 · 56-60, M
The annoying thing is the 'protest' would have had greater effect if everyone had just stayed away !

Don't buy into it.
Picklebobble2 · 56-60, M
@Northwest But that's his platform at the moment.

It's clear for the world to see his Presidency is nothing more than something of a show. Story of the mans whole public persona ! Putting on a show !

But rightly or wrongly our government thinks this whole official visit makes him feel he has kudos he can use to enhance business here and support at home.
And that, sad as it sounds, might improve life here at home in terms of jobs and trade. Even if it is short-term.
Northwest · M
@Picklebobble2 His Presidency is a shit show, but I would hope that if I disagree with a government, I have no quarrel with the people.

I have a problem with some governments, but the people/businesses are usually the victims.
Picklebobble2 · 56-60, M
@Northwest I hear you. And I agree !
If he were here having kicked off a war in North Korea or Russia or Iraq as he wanted to I think protests would be perfectly valid !
But I don't see any advantage or potential change in his or the U.S. governments positions on anything foreign or domestic by demonstrating publicly that he's disliked because he can't or won't keep his mouth shut letting the world know his opinions when they clearly lack fact.
I think you should do in your nation as you see fit, as we do in ours.
Northwest · M
It gives you the opportunity to blow off some steam, following your soft Brexit from the world cup, and it also tells Trump how disillusioned he is, when he states that he brought respect back to the Presidency, and that everyone loves him.
Burnley123 · 41-45, M
@Northwest Soft Brexit from the world cup. Lmfao
Nyloncapes · 61-69, M
I agree with ricosir, we have had Saudis here who treat women like sub humans, gays put to death, torture and God knows what else, and not seen to many protesting when they come
Burnley123 · 41-45, M
@Nyloncapes There were protests against the Saudis too. The point is we need both, not one or the other.
SW-User
@Burnley123 I agree if we protest one we should protest the other. However, Obama had some poor policies as well and we would roll the red carpet out for him. Before anyone says I do think Obama is a good man and Trump isn't.
Northwest · M
@Burnley123 The Saudis visits are typically low key. Also, it's not like they don't own quite a few palaces, and high end London real estate. The UK, is the GCCC's playground.
whowasthatmaskedman · 70-79, M
I hear there is a plan for a mass noise demonstration outside the US embassy where he will spend the night, to keep him awake.. I hope he doesn't get into a bad mood and reach for his phone.😂
hippyjoe1955 · 61-69, M
He's not your president.
Burnley123 · 41-45, M
@thatscottishguy Hippy Joe is owning you big time. You need to educate yourself and also stick to the facts.
thatscottishguy · 26-30, M
😂😂 of course.
Northwest · M
@Burnley123 Well, Ivanka was certainly sliding off her chair, when she was seated next to him.
abe182 · 46-50, M
I think Brits should be good hosts and be mature and civil.
Burnley123 · 41-45, M
@abe182 We have the right to mature civil disobedience. 😎
abe182 · 46-50, M
@Burnley123 😕
However you wish to represent yourselves.

@MichaelJT
You don't get to have an opinion until you pay us back for your war debt for saving you from your queen's German cousins.
You're fucking kidding me, right? When my patriarchs served under Eisenhower they served right next to Brits. You know that, right?
HerKing · 61-69, M
@MichaelJT Hitler wasn't a cousin of the then queen. You know that right?
whowasthatmaskedman · 70-79, M
America made damned sure it got paid well for every foreign war they entered.. They screwed up Vietnam for themselves of course. But the military hardware people made a killing out of the taxpayers and they then discovered a new income stream. So next time, do us a small favour and have your small wars on your own land, so you can clean up your own landmines and depleted uranium.@MichaelJT

Burnley there might have been protests against them but nothing on this scale for trump,
Burnley123 · 41-45, M
@Nyloncapes So we should protest even more against the Saudis
Nyloncapes · 61-69, M
Not saying that Burnley just making a point , think they have done far worse things to human lives then trump
@Nyloncapes The Saudis ? Yet Trump continues to see them as ally. And he has long-standing business interests (outside of the presidency) with them.

I am not a fan of Trump, but I don't hate him. I do not think he is quite as bad as Putin or Mugabe or the King of Saudi who all have met the queen.
