My fellow Americans, are you enjoying your Independence Day?

If so, then thank the French.

(Now that I've lit that fuse, I'm running for cover.)
Yeah. No school/work and can eat like a pig and get hammered....my ancestors didn鈥檛 fight in the revolutionary war so I don鈥檛 really give a shit tbh. I鈥檒l celebrate Korea Independence Day from Japan colonization though every August 15

Did you know that LaFayette is buried in Paris beneath dirt from Bunker Hill? I always thought that was kinda cool. He was instrumental on both continents, in both the American & French Revolutions.
@hlpflwthat Picpus cemetary!

We owe France an eternal debt. The French supplied the US Revolution, with more than 90% of its supplies. The Dutch and the Spanish contributed later. France was left with major debt as a result of the help they gave the US revolutionaries, in both materials and direct military intervention.

Yes, we did interfere on free Europeans' behalf, in WWI and WWII. In WWII though, we were protecting ourselves as well.

Say thank you to the French, it's well deserved.

Vive la France!
On your comment farther down. America did not take her time. She responded to Germany's declaration of war against her in 1941.

Thanks France.
@FattyMcFatts Absolutely!!

@EugenieLaBorgia Thanks EugenieLaBorgia!
@FattyMcFatts My personal thanks and that of my late father, too, to all those Americans that died securing the liberation of France - especially the thousands who died on Omaha beach!!
And the native Americans (who, incidentally, fought for both sides).

Thank the US for saving France in WW2
GeistInTheMachine31-35, M
@MrBrownstone It isn't a deflection. If the Soviets hadn't been doing most of the fighting against the Axis on the Eastern Front, the Western Front would have been much worse for the rest of the Allies.
MrBrownstone46-50, M
@GeistInTheMachine Actually it is. You talked about France in regards to Americans freedom. Somehow you included Russia.
beckyromero36-40, F
@GeistInTheMachine
But mostly thank the former Soviet Union for doing most of the work in defeating Nazi Germany, while America took its time.
Please be sure to mention that to Poles, Estonians, Latvians or Lithuanians.
