I am very surprised it made it on the ballot to split California into three states

I highly doubt it will happen but impressive all the same

What's so "surprising" or "impressive"?

Especially when petitioners are often paid several bucks per signature they get.

You can get a half million people in California to sign a petition to essentially put anything on the ballot.

Just look how many ballot measures they've had since 2010:

[@ There has been a movement in Northern California for some time to split the north from the south. They want to call it the state of Jefforson. There are signs around in the north. It's never gotten much traction.
@beckyromero so im guessing you know jack and shit about California

@Harley4Life

If I had Tim Draper's money, believe me, I could and would qualify a ballot measure there declaring the Cubs as California's Favorite Baseball Team.

I know. You just have to laugh at those lefties, so weird.

@katielass Draper isn't a leftie. He's riding the small government crowd here, if anything. Thankfully less than 20% of the voters support this nonsense.

I mean, looking at the split, NorCal wold come out the clear winner so it's a little tempting 😂

But nah, not a chance in hell.
@Graylight not the country, the state

@QuixoticSoul Right, not a chance. The south needs the norths resources. The south has the population so it will never happen. New York has tried the same thing. The north is tired of their tax money supporting the city.

me too! i was shocked. lets see what happens.
not surprised....... not much love between the conservatives and liberals in cali.
@QuixoticSoul can you give me the lowdown..... i am on the east coast. LOL

@SheCallsMeCrushDaddy It's just money. The dude who organizing this basically wants to keep Silicon Valley money closer to home, spent on services closer to home. He's just another tech bro, and while I think he himself conservative, his part of the state is super liberal and he's not planning on moving. And yeah, it would be good for us NorCal types.

In the end you end up with, most likely, two liberal states (OC conservatives don't outnumber Hispanic democrats in "California") and one conservative state - and the conservative chunk is the one that's going to be hit the hardest economically.
