royal wedding

ok not quiet policitics but osrt of is, its the roayl wedding this week but who should be paying for it, the police, etc
Good question...

It seems that there should have been a big income boost to the UK for this (travel/lodging/food/transportation, gifts/commemorative stuff, more tourists to sites, fees for access to BBC feeds or other tv/radio income)...

Seems to me that the royals should front the cost and get reimbursed from the income streams they created, with the excess going to the British Treasury...
@milkymum1 but don't these visitors purchase good & services on which there are taxes? Wouldn't those benefit more than just locals?

and some of the goods are British-made (like royal Doulton[sp?])...and the services are British-provided...so doesn't that help keep ppl working...?
milkymum1 · 31-35, F
yes they do but most the goods arent made in the uk

yes services will have a tax on but thats locally in windsor

well Royal Doulton some is made in the uk but most is made in China and Thailand;
@milkymum1 RD made in China & Thailand?! oh my...ty for the info...I figured pride of the monarch's imprimature would keep it in Britain...

😣

We live in austerity. Yet have to pay for billionaires wedding while kids die of hunger and thirst around the world. Disgusting imo
briggsie25 · 61-69, M
@Thingschange4444 they should be ashamed of themselves, spending millions on a wedding, when there is so much need for the money to be used for the greater good
milkymum1 · 31-35, F
@briggsie25 yes more than ashamed as thier plenty who need the money lke hospitals doctors nurses police teachers after school activiries safe houses for women and the rest but i guess the ;ajic money tree only grows for bribes and the wealthy
SW-User
everything for the wedding
from the dressmaker
to the jeweller
to the drinks people
the food farmers
and the flowers
and so on
should be sponsored
and not come from the taxpayer
it can be advertising for them
oh no but then again
that would cheapen the event and we cannot have that lol
you have to be able to brag about the amount spent
milkymum1 · 31-35, F
@SW-User such a good idea and also to watch the wedding should be pay to view then they would see how popular they really are becuase i dont pay my tv licence to have this shoved down my throat for the next month
briggsie25 · 61-69, M
Taxpayer always pays.
They should pay for their own weddings, the country is falling apart yet we are spending millions on this rubbish
briggsie25 · 61-69, M
@milkymum1Correct!!!. Her dress is £300,000 and we are paying for it.
It's disgraceful
milkymum1 · 31-35, F
@briggsie25 yes i hate how the wealthy get everything and aviode thier taxes and dont return thier tax forms at and get away with it all but when any of us do then its the opersite.

fuck i didnt know it cost that much an absolute disgrase x
briggsie25 · 61-69, M
@milkymum1 and all the homeless in the area are being moved on in the build up to this farce.
The money it's costing should be used to find housing for them.
Wouldn't hate the Royals so much if they paid their own way
bhatjc · 46-50, M
it's a little of both. It's all coming from the tax payers. The Security part was the big money drain. But look at how much money that event brought into town. The hotels, the restaurants, and others places. Where making bank from all the tourist into town. It kind of paid for it's self
bhatjc · 46-50, M
@milkymum1 Good point. But A lot of the people ah tending the event. fall into that group. Maybe they will pay it back in the end. Was William's event listed as a state event'
milkymum1 · 31-35, F
@bhatjc Yes williams was a state event so is a little differnet. As for this if its not a state event why should the state pay for it because it is in all effects a normal wedding.
bhatjc · 46-50, M
@milkymum1 That is true. He is 5 line. So just a normal wedding. Maybe the couple could have sold ad space. But i think that would have been tacky.
Jm31xxx · 41-45, M
I think tourists end up paying.
milkymum1 · 31-35, F
@Jm31xxx most will be british so the tax payers again
Jm31xxx · 41-45, M
Yeah but the are voluntarily choosing to go
SidMed · 46-50, M
@Jm31xxx It is such idotic masses who are making sure that the monarchy exists. What are they doing that the tax payer should pay for these getting married....then delivering babies in private hospitals. Why dont they go to the NHS Hospitals?
why, the ROYAL FAMILY! not like they dont have the money, right?
milkymum1 · 31-35, F
@SatyrService yes plenty of it
Coolkid77 · 31-35, M
I honestly could care less about the royal wedding.
milkymum1 · 31-35, F
@Coolkid77 nor do i ad why im aksing the question
Dshhh · M

milkymum1 · 31-35, F
@Dshhh yes for all of it

milkymum1 · 31-35, F

@milkymum1 Why so nasty ? I honestly didn’t know. Why would things be different this time ?
Fernie · F
