For those of you old enough to remember...when Nixon resigned, how many people STILL supported him?

Northwest · M
When he resigned, his approval rating was 25%.

I remember my great uncle, one of his supporters, stopped coming to family dinners, or maybe was asked to do so, because everyone else was tired of his rants about the commies out to get Nixon.

@bijouxbroussard I am completely blown away by those who think Trump is infallible. I honestly don't think it would/will matter if he was formally indicted. Those who support him would still insist that he is innocent. There is just no way their leader could ever be corrupt. Hmmm...kind of reminds me of the Manson followers. Completely brainwashed.

@SW-User Makes me realise how people are brainwashed through history to vote in people like Hitler, there is just no talking to some people, no matter what evidence, truths you present them with, they are still just going to stick with believing what they want to believe.

It's a waste of time debating I believe, because THEY CAN'T HANDLE THE TRUTH

@SW-User Absolutely true! Politicians aren't Gods. There a just as capable of corruption as anyone else.

just read an 'interesting' article from The Miller centre at the U.V.A. Looking specifically at Nixon's legacy.
Not sure how partisan the centre is or if it's thinking holds any weight in the U.S. either then or now. But it seems to suggest that there were two sides to Nixon's Presidency. The public patriot putting his country before anything else, and the private paranoid who recorded just about every conversation at his desk in the belief that some he met were trying to screw him over.
I remember some of us arguing with teachers who thought he was treated unfairly.
