@Northwest It was coordinated through Israel because Iranian officials, including the country's current president, Hassan Rouhani, were afraid of it becoming public knowledge in Iran that they were meeting with officials representing the "Great Satan."

Iran also didn't mind that Israel took out Iraq's nuclear reactor program in 1981.
