Sanctuary cities are prime examples of shit holes right?

akindheart · 61-69, F
oh yes. they just moved the shithole from their country to america.
Graylight · 51-55, F
@akindheart Yes, whatever you do, you must play the semantics game. This is an attempt to delve into irrelevant minutia all while deflecting the question and ignoring the issue at hand. Trump-Talk 101.

@jackjjackson See the exact comment to go with this exact meme on another thread.
Hmm...

Seattle, Portland, San Francisco, Austin, New Orleans, Philadelphia. Hmm. Shit holes? A tremendous amount of history and culture in these places.

Los Angeles, Boston, New York, Miami, Atlanta, Philly, Chicago. SF Bay area. A shit load of capital generated there.

Berkeley. Boston. Ithaca. Austin. SF Bay area. Seattle. A shit load of science and innovation going on there.
@jackjjackson Why do I think what?

Then why is so much of our political and social rhetoric about immigrants? about cultural and social homogeneity?
@jackjjackson We have angst-ed and created fear about immigrants since the beginning of the Republic. Here is an anti-Irish/anti-Chinese cartoon from some paper or magazine. Maybe Harper's. From the late 1800's. Neither the Irish or the Chinese "devoured" America.

It's good political rhetoric.

Who benefits from this rhetoric? Mexicans have been doing roofing here under Trump, under this rhetoric. Just like they did roofing the beginning of Obama's administration. Just like they did at the beginning of Bill Clinton's administration.

They Mexican roofers never did me any harm.

The state and federal government have.

Again. It's good political rhetoric.

is it fair to say sanctuary cities are predominantly democrat controlled?

they need the votes?..

Someone order a “Got Junk” truck. @akindheart

@TheOneyouwerewarnedabout Yes, all the big cities are run by dumbocrats and they are pretty much shitholes. Every last one of them. Of course their elected leaders live out in the burbs, they're not gonna live in a shithole.
jackjjackson · 61-69, M
Not technically the burbs. All cities have extremely high priced gentrified areas. Politicians are generally found there where they’ve miraculously come up with enough money to buy high priced real estate on government salaries. @katielass
Northwest · M
Seattle, San Francisco, Los Angeles... are shit holes? What would you consider a primo location?
Northwest · M
@jackjjackson Huh? What's misleading? The real estate data comes straight from Zillow, and it's only 3 days old. Try again.
jackjjackson · 61-69, M
What’s so difficult to understand about the term metropolitan area? The actual cities are not used for the numbers you cite. @Northwest
Northwest · M
@jackjjackson What's so difficult to understand the term this came from Zillow. Their numbers are NOT for the metropolitan areas. Check some facts every once in a while, Jack. Don't follow the Trump lead.

If these were Metropolitan areas numbers, Seattle would be #1, when you add Bellevue, Redmond and Kirkland, all three cities experienced the highest growth in the nation. If you take the San Jose metropolitan area, then the ranking will go down. The same for the Portland metropolitan area. The same for Raleigh and Charlotte. For those last two cities, it turns out the smart people are moving in, leaving some of the suburbs in the red oblivion.
Graylight · 51-55, F
Assuming you're right, which you are not, any one of those "shitholes" probably looks like paradise to somebody seeking a new home or asylum. Maybe you could use the perspective to put a more human spin on the issue.

Yes you are Burnsie. What do you want? . @Burnley123

I've no clue what the "Sanctuary cities" are. 🤔

@jackjjackson
For some reason it doesn’t give me the option of marking that as BA. So this announcement will have to do.
Probably because one of the people in the chain, possibly myself, is blocked by her.
jackjjackson · 61-69, M
Far be it from to get involved with who is blocking who lol. @Northwest

@jackjjackson It's SW's software, they made some changes, that had some unintended side effects. Common to the software industry.
