Is Trump escalating tensions in Syria to distract from problems at home?

The two main stories in US politics ATM seem to be Mueller and foreign policy aggression. A cynical reading of this would suggest that the tail is wagging the dog. This could have worrying consequences.
Burnley, I thought you were intelligent. That is about the stupidest thing I've ever heard on this site period.
Not a word for the babies who choked to death in agony.

"Trump is escalating tensions in Syria."

That is so completely inane, I can't believe it's coming from your head! What in the hell are you on?
@QuixoticSoul That's another symptom of Trump Derangement Syndrome, you guys insist that your numbers are about 5 times more than what they really are. Even with the great republican exodus we've seen lately you will continue to see the backlash from conservatives because of the ridiculous behavior of the progressives. You people are mostly concentrated in large cities, and hopefully you will soon lose your grip of the media and academia. If the leftists manage to bring about the chaos they want so badly, then I suppose it's just America's punishment, Just part of the great tribulation, but I am not going to smile and ignore the filth and garbage that they unleash on this country.

@puck61 There is no derangement - slightly more than half the country voted for a candidate that billed herself as a progressive, whose biggest opponent in the primaries was another progressive. In previous elections, it was an even larger proportion. Those are the numbers we're working with here.

Yeah yeah yeah, chaos and brimstone, yup - that's definitely a rational view of the progressive agenda, and totally not ravings of a hyperbolic crank 🙄
@QuixoticSoul Hillary is not all bad, she got Trump elected! That's probably the only good thing she has ever done.

Trump could not give a shit, about people in what he thinks is a shithole country. He did not want people from Syria to come to the US, with the exception of Christians, and made that part of his first Muslim ban.

Tensions, however have escalated, and he's now best buddies with MBS. He was showing him color posters with awesome planes that MBS is going to buy, so he needs to adopt to a more pragmatic, anti-Assad position.

Russia, wants to jerk our chain, and they have a convenient proxy in the form of Assad's regime.

Tensions are escalating.

Trump has Mueller, Stormy and other names, so while he did not invent the crisis, it fell into his lap, regardless of which part is doing the wagging.

@Northwest obsess much

No. It's a legit foreign policy concern.

Worrying consequences? Yes.

Wagging the dog? No.
Burnley123 · 41-45, M
@beckyromero Its a legitimate concern about the humanitarian crisis but a bad move for the wrong reasons. Every intervention promises a solution but it just gets worse. This is about the power play between Moscow and Washington. The cost is Syrian life.
Loretta78 · 46-50, F
@beckyromero It looks first of all for me as if the USA wants to do their "job" as a world police - like years ago in Iraq. 😒
Loretta78 · 46-50, F
@Burnley123 You've said it! 👍
TexChik · F
The Syrians did that with their chlorine gas attack
Of course he is.
Loretta78 · 46-50, F
@penguinswon 1000 % agree!! 👍
Yeah, Trump actually used chemical weapons on Syrian civilians. Trump also vetoed the investigation at the UN.
What a monster that Trump is!
QuixoticSoul · 41-45, M
@puck61 We did veto an investigation at the UN. And an OPCW team is on its way to the site right now - but we already said we don't care what they find.
Recluse · 46-50, M
No,the Facebook bullshit is distracting people from what is happening abroad in the world.
Troy123 · 22-25, M
The gas attack happened before the raid on his attorney's office.
Burnley123 · 41-45, M
@Troy123 I know
Cierzo · M
Deep State, not Trump.
Burnley123 · 41-45, M
@Cierzo I think its both TBH. This is one way can get aspects of the deep state on board.

@Burnley123 Someone who really wants war attacks by surprise, he does not send twitter threads. Trump is doing theatre for the Israelis. Which is not a good thing, but much better than attacking Syria.
Quizzical · 46-50, M
Spooky how often this happens...
Loretta78 · 46-50, F
Certainly. What else? 😒
