These are the primaries. I hope the Democrats can rally behind the winner, in each major race. Still, I think it's a long shot in Texas.

@Northwest There are several factors that favor democrats in Texas. Texas has a higher percentage of Hispanics and millennials than California, and demographics will push the percentage of democrats higher over time. Eventually Texas is likely to become a blue state, but it probably isn't in this election. Expect much more voter suppression on the part of the republicans to delay the inevitable as long as possible.

@windinhishair You would think this would be the case, but the #1 issue that swings the Hispanic vote, is abortion. This is why Trump got so much of the Hispanic vote. In Texas, the conservatives can also say "hey, we're not with Trump, our guy is Ted Cruz, etc.).

This is what the GOP will use to obfuscate, this fall. Millennials may make a difference in 2020, but I share your optimism.

@Northwest Demographics ensures that more states will turn blue over time, as white Americans become a minority nationwide. That may not occur until the 2030s, but it is coming nonetheless. Voter suppression efforts and gerrymandering can slow down or reverse the effects for a time, but not in perpetuity. The change, when it occurs, is likely to be abrupt and disruptive as the efforts to maintain the status quo collapse.

The Texas GOP will try anything they can to hang on this fall. I suspect they will, though they will have less support among Hispanics than in the past due to trump and the capitulation of congressional republicans to his variable agenda.

It won鈥檛 even be close boys for the reasons accurately outlined by Northwest. The future will be what it will be chicken counting prior to hatching never ends up well for democrats. 馃悢 . @Northwest @windinhishair

@windinhishair Whites are already a minority in Texas. This state is a laboratory for voter suppression through gerrymandering, picture id rules, out of the way polling places etc. Texas is blue in the major cities and will flip in the 2020s. Demographics are changing in Texas and the US.
