The trade war the President allegedly started will be good for the US

Actually the President is simply correctl the past mistakes of others. The days of giving away the farm are over!

Really, because this is not an opinion that the Fed Chairman (Powell) shares. His response was somewhat diplomatic, but puzzled.

According to him, the best way to deal with disputes, is not through starting trade wars.

@jackjjackson Why would I be insulting Walmart employees? These folks are subjected to enough, having to wait on the Wall Mart customers.

They're getting tax cut induced bonuses, aren't they? or was that Target employees? They need to buy cars, right?

@jackjjackson Care to guess what Trump tweeted today?
Trade wars are good, and easy to win
You want to tell me again, how this is a CNN invention?

CNN used the term first. @Northwest

Has no choice does he ?
China;Turkey;Brazil;South Korea;India all produce steel at similar or cheaper price.
Most closer to Europe than America so shipping cheaper.
Most producing their own cars/trains/ships/etc.
Where does he envisage this 'Trade war' ?
Picklebobble2 · 56-60, M
@jackjjackson Well, when you got nothing else, fearmongering makes it sound like 'you're on top of things'.....maybe.
I don't know. I just think he'd be better served if he just got out there and met folk rather than do the whole.....'We're being strong ! and by implication....Winning ! thing.

The Dept of Commerce recommended the tariffs the President’s didn’t pull them out of a hat. Let’s see how things go. @Picklebobble2
Picklebobble2 · 56-60, M
@jackjjackson But tariffs on who ?
You guys are trying to lower your imports (as is everybody) because it cuts costs.
But who is he envisioning is 'threatening' U.S. production ?

The fair thing is to have balanced trade...if they aren't willing to buy our stuff then we shouldn't be buying much of theirs. And stop outsourcing jobs to other nations, that includes Serco corporation, owned by Prince William and it has a huge numbed of American contracts including military.

i have to agree. and my annuity rose 38.53%
akindheart · 61-69, F
@whowasthatmaskedman my annuity is called Athene if you want to check it out. i just wish i had my largest annuity doing the same. but thank you!
whowasthatmaskedman · 70-79, M
@akindheart I have my own plan based on our rules and I'm frankly "set for life" But thanks.
akindheart · 61-69, F
@whowasthatmaskedman very good. good planning on your part. i have a few years to go.
whowasthatmaskedman · 70-79, M
Yep.. Now learn how to make everything you used to import, cheaper than China can.. Good luck with that.. And speaking of farms, when those subsidies come off you will find out what your food really costs.
jackjjackson · 61-69, M
As if you won’t? Working with better trade deals and using real instead of massaged numbers will make EVERYONE’s life better. @whowasthatmaskedman
I'm just going to say this. The cost of globalism is that one can't step out of it without a serious economic recession.
jackjjackson · 61-69, M
Thr market made back some of the 500 prior to close. No need for panic.

@CopperCicada
@jackjjackson That's actually not what motivates my comment. A few % dip in the DJIA is not a serious economic recession.

Implicit in globalism is divesting one's manufacturing capacity. That has a huge economic opportunity. It also has a huge geopolitical risk.
jackjjackson · 61-69, M
Our “trading partner” by taking advantage of us for years seem to have survived “huge risks” up to this point anyway. I respectfully suggest that their risks have become huger. @CopperCicada

Say that to my stocks
Spokeskitties75 · 46-50, M
@waleskinder I sold my boeing stock at the top at 9:30am
jackjjackson · 61-69, M
Don’t worry. The knee jerk reaction will be corrected and then some in a week or less. 500 points isn’t what is was five years ago. Don’t let CNN spook you. @Spokeskitties75

Nothing like a good war to bring prosperity...
Peekaboo20 · 26-30, F
Yes, once other countries find new, less greedy trading partners the US should flourish in its self sufficiency.
yeah but america still sucks.
