Will the GOP blame Hillary or Obama for the shutdown?

Let’s get our government shutdown timeline straight:

▪️GOP has WH, Senate and House
▪️Trump promised DACA deal
▪️GOP let CHIP expire
▪️GOP tried to use CHIP as blackmail
▪️GOP IGNORED bipartisan bill to protect DACA
▪️GOP now trying time blame DEMOCRATS for shutdown

The federal government has NEVER in US history shutdown when ONE party controls both houses of Congress AND the White House.

So much winning...

Lets see....House passed continuation bill....and 95% of Republicans want to pass it in the Senate...but 100% of Dems don't want to pass it because they want to have millions of noncitizens stay here illegally, with the intention of creating a partisan pro-dem voting bloc.

The Center For American Progress (CAP) Action Fund admits that “DREAMers” are a “critical component of the Democratic Party’s future electoral success.”

So like usual it is the Dem way or no way. The government has shut down before....if that is what it takes....so be it.

@bowman81 did every republican vote to approve the spending bill? no so they can't even sway their own members with their bs. wait, wait that's all you ever hear from republicans wait. next month, next week, next year and still nothing gets done.
bowman81 · M
@ladycae Nope, like I said 95+% of the GOP voted to keep the government open and 100% of the Dems and 5% of the GOP acted to close it.
ladycae · 100+, F
actually once again you prove your ignorance some dems voted to aprove the bill. stop getting your alternate facts from fox, alex jones and brietbart. you might actually learn something useful

Watching Paul Ryan yesterday just blatantly LIE that it's because of Democrats made me want to reach through the screen and grab his little Eddie Munster throat. They will say or do anything. And as long as they have things like the WH media arm of FOX there to tell people the sky is really green and not blue, there will be people who believe it. Blows my mind.

The GOP spin machine is on. They are blaming it on the Democrats, and using the military as leverage.

The bottom line: Trump, the citizen, during an interview with Fox, in October of 2013, said that the buck stops with Obama (during a similar situation), and that the President has discretion over how funds are doled out, if there is a shutdown.

Instead, he's lying and saying that it's the Democrats who are cutting funds to the military. All he has to do, is the shutdown happens, is exercise his executive powers, and dispense funds to the military. It's really that simple, and that's where the buck stops.

@Northwest The military? Has everyone forgotten that sequestration agreement? Austerity means nothing gets funded. The Republican tax bill will explode the deficit until the Democrats come back into office and clean up the fiscal mess.
@Northwest I forgot about that, Trump sure did say the president was responsible in that situation, didn’t he ? But he’s sure not owning this situation now. Always a hypocrite, but his supporters never see it. 😅

Shutdown? Was someone under the impression the government was currently functioning?
@Blithe
Lol.

They'll each blame each other. I think it'll stick to the GOP, though. They run the place, afterall.

Wasn't the orange guy in charhe supposed to be a master dealmaker?
WoodyAq · M
@bijouxbroussard yes, in spite of him knowing all there is to know about healthcare, too...
@WoodyAq “Who knew healthcare was so complicated ?” Everyone but Trump, obviously. 😅
WoodyAq · M
@bijouxbroussard I love that line!

Trump is already trying to blame the dems. It's futile, as they control all three branches..hard to get past that, unless you are a head in the sand trumpster.
Davidarendale0 · 36-40, M
They will blame congressional Democrats and the Democrats will blame the GOP. That's Washington, it's always the other parties falt. And the government shutting down means nothing. All government programs still get funding during a shut down. Snap, social security, Medicaid, Medicare, all of them. Government employees don't get paid but once their is a spending agreement reached they get back pay with interest. Nobody suffers during a shutdown. It actually happens all the time and you don't even notice.
hlpflwthat · M
@Davidarendale0 Sure - if by 'all the time' you mean 8 times in history
Davidarendale0 · 36-40, M
15 times in the last 10 years
Davidarendale0 · 36-40, M
@hlpflwthat when neither side can make political hey out of it you just don't hear about the government shutdown.
Subsumedpat · 36-40, M
It will not matter whose fault or why there is a shut down if there is it will be blamed on who ever does not vote to let a funding bill go through. Since the house passed a funding bill it will not be blamed on them, they need 60 votes in the senate to get it passed, right now it looks like the democrats are not going to let it go through if they don't get their way, if they stick to that then the democrats will get the blame.
@Subsumedpat The GOP still has control of the Senate, right ?
Crazywaterspring · 61-69, M
Republicans are insane and have no interest in governing. They prove it daily and have for years.
Loretta78 · 46-50, F
Certainly. It's all Hillary's and Obama's fault. 😒

Good post! 👍
hlpflwthat · M
I think you summed it up pretty well
Says a lot, right? #MAGA
They’re already blaming the Democrats, at least Trump is. This is a prime example of why Trump is such a shite leader. Rather than trying to take responsibility as president, or at least trying to be conciliatory and resolve things, he’s always looking for someone else to blame.
Loretta78 · 46-50, F
@bijouxbroussard He is such a pitiful loser!
😠👎
nudistsueaz · 61-69, F
I think they will blame the same people Barry blamed.
