The UK Conservatives blame the Labour Party for Trump cancelling his trip.

Well, tbf Trump blamed Obama and this makes about as much sense. Apparantly Corbyn saying that to grant a state visit to a guy who re tweets posts by far right groups and makes up lies about UK Muslims should not happen, is wrong for some reason....

Boris Johnson sees this as damaging Britain's 'special relationship' with America. US people can correct me if I'm wrong but my understanding is that America has never seen Britain as more than an underlying ally and that the 'special relationship', as such, is purely a delusion of the British ruling class.

Our ruling Conservative Government think sucking up to Trump will earn them Brownie points from a man who considers loyalty a one way street. They are however well aware that the UK left activist base (with encouragement from Corbyn), would stage a mass demonstration to embarrass them, hence why the trip was cancelled.

The Tories should be ashamed of themselves for their complicity with Trump.

trump as always is a moron. Basically, everything he tweeted about the reason he was cancelling the trip to the UK was a lie.

Thankfully there is some nation on the Earth that doesn't put up with our leaders crap.
windinhishair · 61-69, M
@Pherick Of course trump lied. He will never under any circumstances accept the blame for the cancellation of the visit. He is incapable of telling the truth.

@silmarilion456 That isn't post modernism.

All of America claims to be Scottish or Irish so no I don't care.

The trip was cancelled, because Trump's ego is so fragile, he will not accept people demonstrating against him.

Johnson is trying to get some kudos from his base, for standing up to the leftist bullies.

One of my former colleagues, a 3rd generation Irish, who grew up in New York, once told me that until he got to Seattle, he did not know that "damn British" was two words.

I don't see us as having a special relationship with the British, more like a situational special relationship. Though, I don't recall any of our Presidents being anti British.

I personally appreciate Blair standing next to our President, in the aftermath of 9/11, but I think Blair did it for his political purposes.

@Northwest what a crock ... the tards whine about him 24/7 ... and he enjoys giving them things to whine about .
Burnley123 · 41-45, M
@Northwest Yes. I don't appreciate Blair joining with Bush's Wars and also lying about the justification.

I feel Britain and America do have a cultural link and I like that. However, unfortunately some politicians use it to justify some pretty awful stuff.

So, you don't have an actual comment on the post.

Is this really a Tory vs. Labour issue here in the UK. I'm talking from the perspective of the general public and not those with some kind of vested interest or agenda. I've got friends who vote Labour and I've got friends who vote Tory, none of them want the orange moron to visit our country.
room101 · 51-55, M
@Burnley123 i.e. the people with an agenda and a vested interest.
Burnley123 · 41-45, M
@room101 You know where my loyalties are in this. I'd rather support an anti trump politician than a pro trump politician.

Its my team and I agree with them on this.
room101 · 51-55, M
@Burnley123 I have absolutely no issue with your views on this one. Sadly, I'm a bit teamless..........for now ;)

and that cancellation means that all those millions of bottles of piss won't be thrown, damn it
TexChik · F
Trump cancelled his trip because he refuses to cut the ribbon on a billion dollar waste of money spent on a new embassy when obama gave away our prime embassy with its great location to build another one ....

@Burnley123 I think people like her are very comfortable, not having a brain of their own. It gives them a certain level of comfort, because they can fit well within their hateful, ignorant communities (online or IRL).

I just wonder where she gets the time though. She's omnipresent. You're guaranteed an appearance, or a libtard mention, the second you say Trump.
Pherick · 41-45, M
@Northwest What I never quite get, is the MANY times I have asked her to provide some proof of her statements. Of course, never anything.

It must be amazing to be that comfortable in your lack of knowledge.
Northwest · M
@Pherick Not once did she provide proof. I went through the exercise a few times, and every time, I showed her that every single claim and rebuttal on her part, was made up.

The likes of her are very comfortable in their ignorance. Not only do they not have to think, but their world will be shattered if they accept that their world of hate is a house of card. They would have to admit that they're wrong.
Pherick · 41-45, M
Sorry for my ignorance here, but just to understand ...

Tories = Republicans
Labour = Democrats

Is that basically how it shakes out?
Pherick · 41-45, M
@Burnley123 OK, just wanted to make sure I atleast had my leanings right even if they aren't perfectly the same.

Thanks all!
Northwest · M
@Burnley123
Kind of. Imagine the Democrats led by Bernie.

Long story in that though and not exactly peaceful.
Close enough :-)

@Burnley123 Bernie never had a chance, thanks to Hillary. He just didn't know the fix was already in....lol
